Jump Jones (expired event)
Author: Mr Lynne :: Posted: Wed Jul 19, 2006 5:56 pm GMT
Hornblower Cruises boarding 2:30PM and departing 3:00PM with Jump Jones and a group of us from SwingCats and Danceaholics.

Cost is $25/per from Hornblower - So far none of us has had to pay full fare.

http://www.hornblower.com/port-specialty-cruises.aspx?port=sd#

Discount info may be provided LATER - Or you are free to check out re-seller ticket sources on your own.

Most of us have paid $16:50 and a few $2:00 more - That $2:00 can be reduced to a few dimes with some Planning/Coordination, including the morning of the event.

To save anyone the effort - We have exhausted Goldstar Events discount tickets.

I plan on asking Ginger and Mary Ann for a dance on our 3 hour cruise (it is only a 2 hour cruise) so perhaps the G~Island girls will be no shows.

SUGAR SULLIVAN COMING TO SAN DIEGO
Author: 2plyswing :: Posted: Thu Jul 13, 2006 6:02 pm GMT
The LIVING LEGENDS crew is at it again...

We enjoyed bringing Frankie & Norma so much we thought we'd try one more this year:
Laughing SUGAR SULLIVAN Laughing - SEP 9 & 10

Sugar was seduced by the Lindy hop when she was 14, and
by 1955 she was the Lindy champion of the Harvest Moon Ball.

She can be seen in the famous Spirit Moves film footage and
was a regular dancer at the Savoy Ballroom.

She was a professional, dancing all day, every day, six days a week, "and
I loved it!" Later she joined a revue, Sonny Allen and the
Rockets, touring for 12 years in theatres, clubs, with TV gigs
thrown in - and raised a family.

This is another rare opportunity to learn from one of the original dancers of the Swing Era.

We hope you mark your calendar and join...

Developer Buying Hollywood Palladium

Developer Buying Hollywood Palladium

The Hollywood venue is to be sold for an estimated $65 million, but a restoration may not be feasible.

By Roger Vincent, Times Staff Writer, June 30, 2006

The fast-moving makeover of the Hollywood district may soon include a new development on the site of the Hollywood Palladium, the famous concert hall that has hosted such top musical acts as Glenn Miller and the Grateful Dead.

Whether the building itself can survive the transition is unclear.

Combined Properties Inc. is buying the 66-year-old Sunset Boulevard venue with the intention of developing its large parking lot possibly with residences, stores and a hotel, said Marianne Lowenthal, executive vice president of the Beverly Hills firm.

She declined to say how much the company is paying for the property, but local real estate observers value the deal at about $65 million.

The Palladium has been a shining piece of Hollywood history. It was built by former film producer Maurice M. Cohen on the site of the...
