The KGB Trio are really fantastic. They're tops for visiting bands here to San Diego. If we are lucky enough to bring them back, don't miss the show! Here are some photos: ![]() |

And a few more... ![]() |

I've got a few more to post tomorrow, but the highlight really is the series that starts with the photo above of Meeshi and Krista. They really tore it up for that dance. It seemed that Meeshi had more dance energy than I've seen in a while (perhaps not having to host was all the liberation he needed) and she was right there with him Stay tuned...they are great! |
| |
Don't show any that show my underwear! |
| |
I'm so nervous for this "series"... |
| |
I want to see panties! |
| |
No, Brent! |
| |
Oooh, I think I'm hiding in the back of one of those... |
| |
That was a fun night! The band was awesome! Luis |
| |
*sniff* *sniff* I can't believe i missed it!!!!!! I've been looking forward to the KGB for months now! Maybe I can catch 'em at Suzy Q's on Friday????? |
| |
Don't worry Melbamoose, I watched the whole series being taken and the only one spying any panties was Meeshi! Great band, cool venue, good times...THANKS everyone and especially the organizers (fellow Cardiffite?) |
| |
Well good...I think. Yeah, somehow Meeshi ended up under me on the floor between my legs at the end. He's pretty sneaky that way... |
| |
Dany, I think that KGB says that they will NOT be playing in Long Beach. Is that where Suzy Q is? Check before you travel. It would be nice if they would play at Juke Joint someday. |
| |
They will be playing at Memories on Thursday night, and Suzy Q's on Friday night. |
| |
Don't worry, Krista, I didn't peek...I was too exhausted by the end of the dance to notice anything. I just wanted to say that the band was truly awesome, and I'm not much for hyperbole. Well, maybe not anymore. But I was disappointed that more people didn't come out to support the band. I guess some of you may have been deterred by the long drive in the rain, but getting to hear a swing band play the "I Dream of Jeannie" theme song and Theolonious Monk in the same set was a rare musical treat. |
| |
SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC! I thought it was a good crowd, but it could have been bigger. I told a lot of people about it. I think though the drive to Carlsbad, the threat of rain, the bug that's been going around and various school issues (Monday night, exams) were what kept some away, at least those I asked. Keep supporting live music, whenever a band is scheduled, tell everyone. I am so inspired when I hear and see a live band. (Right Gene) The band was great. I thought they had a bigger sound than I thought a trio would. Bring em back. |

I liked the "yum yum yum" song. |

I feel the tables should have been moved off the dance floor even for the number of people that were there. The useable dance floor is much smaller than the actual dance floor in that waiters, and traffic in general, are always walking the perimeter to get to the back tables and out to the front. I got kicked and bumped so much and I was forced to dance very small and compact. I had to concentrate more on not running into people and other dancers than dancing. I don't mind dancing "small" at a crowed venue if everyone else is aware of the need to do so and has the experience and dance etiquette to pull it off. But San Diego is a young scene with lots of new dancers that don't have the control needed to dance on a cramped crowded dance floor. We all bump into someone sometimes. It happens to all of us at times. But at Neiman's with the "tables for 4 on the dance floor" it seems to be really bad. And it's frustrating to know that most of it is preventable by moving the tables. I saw people actually bringing chairs onto the dance floor so 6 people could fit around a table, when 90% of the tables off the dance floor were empty! And then waiters and people trying to get to the bathrooms are walking inbetween the tables and dancers all night. Okay, I'm done....It was still a fun night, and I had a great time. We can easily make it much better next time though if the restaurant will let us remove the tables from the dance floor, and use at least some of the tables on the other side of the partition. |
| |
The folks at Neimans do not mind moving the tables if it gets real crowded there. I didn't think it got that bad, but I didn't really dance (bad knee). Next show if the crowd tops 100, we'll pull the tables and see how that goes. First things first though - must come up with a band that can actually cover the cost of bringing them to town! (KGB did) |
| |
All dances there so far have been crowded on the floor. Just crowded enough to be really annoying and to get stepped on and kicked by nearby newbies. I'd come early and help you move the tables. |
| |
Even if we only moved the tables on the right side, where the sevice people come in and out, it would allow us to "breathe a little bit". |
