1) Greetings from Boston: We weren't fortunate to experience a good swing show in town, so we caught a game at Fenway Park instead. This was Isgard's first baseball game. As hard as it was for her to understand the game, it was equally as hard trying to explain it. There was so much going on and Isgard was into every single detail. By the end of the game, Gene was ready to drink (and drink some more). 2) New York City: Warning: This is a NO-NO. A sequence of events; 1. I saw tail. 2. I grabbed tail. 3. I saw a giant horse-shoe. 4. I saw a great giant starburst. 5. I experienced weightlessness. Upon regarding consciousness, I was sitting in the middle of a street in Hoboken, NJ. 3) That's Gene and Isgard with Mr. George Gee - Mac-Dab in the middle. We were fortunate to catch his show one Thursday evening at SWING 46. They had just gotten back from gigging in Detroit and were ready to kick out the jams on their home turf that night. Before going on, George walked by our table and upon seeing Gene, uttered "What the hell are YOU doing here?". He was genuinely surprised to see us again, but in HIS element. We stayed till 3AM where he extended his graditute and wished us a good night. 4) High flying duo of Theo and Tanya from Seattle, we missed meeting them when they were here last July for Peter Loggins \ Lisa Fergusons's workshop. We finally met them at SWING 46, and again the next night at the SUPPER CLUB. Practitioners on the ever-popular "L.A.style", these guys were pretty fun to watch. 5) Yeah, you can say we had a lot of fun that night. 6) At 12:30 AM, the second half of the program at the SUPPER CLUB was about to begin. That's Isgard to the left standing dazed and confused after the first half. According to a NYC local, the SUPPER CLUB is mostly catered to tourists since its location is smack dab in the middle of the theatre district. Be prepared to spend lots of dough (like around $ 150.00 per couple). But if you ask us, it's worth doing -- at least once. 7) When you dance as hard as we do, you gotta load up on food. Ney York is noted for the best food anywhere on earth. Just make sure it's "DEAD" before you put in in your mouth. 8) A word to the wise; If you go "budget", expect the unexpected. Since our hotel in NYC was $ 112.00 per night (cheap by NY standards) we were lucky to have a bed (that tilts), a bathroom (as big as an airplane lavaratory), and air conditioning (when it decides to work). If you want all the comforts in the world when you travel, pay up or just stay home. 9) The Statue of Liberty was given to the US from France as a symbol of "Liberty enlightening the world". Isgard was given to us from Germany as a symbol of "Liberty through Boogie-Woogie and Haagen-Daz". |
