Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...in a sense. Like a wound that keeps on bleeding, like a river that overflows, like falling ice that becomes an avalanche, we seem to be losing more and more Firehouse dancers to the LindyGroove phenomenon, and the trend does not look like it will reverse anytime soon. Therefore, I thought if we pretended that the Firehouse WAS LindyGroove next Thursday, then maybe more of you might show up. So next week, just carpool as usual at 7pm, drive in a circular loop from 5 South to 8 East to 805 North to 52 West for 2 1/2 hours, then get off the 163 Freeway at 9:30pm. Don't worry, I'll put a billboard sign on the offramp that says "WELCOME TO PASADENA". You'll finally arrive at the Hillcrest "LindyGroove" where you will find all of your FAVORITE dancers sweating profusely in their tight-fitting LINDYGROOVE t-shirts. Of course, Tony Quach will be DJing (well, actually, Brian Abe will be DJing, but since we Asians all look alike, you won't know the difference) and the place will be packed with wall-to-wall dancers groovin' to their heart's content. But seriously, EVERYONE who comes next Thursday to the Hillcrest "LindyGroove" wearing a LindyGroove t-shirt will get in for $3. Why bother fighting a losing battle! LindyGroove rules! LindyGroove is the place to be! Go to LindyGroove next Thursday (uh, that is, the Hillcrest "LindyGroove")! I'll see you there (in my LindyGroove t-shirt, of course)! |

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Firehouse will be closed on Thursday, July 3rd, due to the special dance event at... |

Meeshi... seriously only about like... 6-7 people actually go to lindygroove. Dancing is just lagging in San Diego... because it is. No one is inspired anymore... and no one is learning anything new. Everyone has been dancing the same tired crap and to the same tired music (laid-back loungy music) for a while. PEOPLE need to learn again! and love the dance. |
| |
I'm inspired! I took 3 hours of Balboa group lessons with Joel and Allison last night, (and the week before), and am taking two privates this weekend with them. So, David, your statement, "No one is inspired anymore... and no one is learning anything new", may be a bit inaccurately "global", but the "exageration for emphasis" does get your point across, which I tend to agree with. You could not be more right on when you said, "PEOPLE need to learn again!" I think we ALL need to continue to take classes, learn new moves, go over the basics, study the masters, and work on routines that challenge us and take our dancing to levels we're not comfortable with at the moment. Exchanges are cool, but they're no substitute for "all the above". |

Yah... last night at LG, i realized how much i seriously DO NOT know. I watched Peter Loggins... he just knows so much STUFF. LINDY HOP. pure unadulterated lindy hop. |

"last night at LG, i realized how much i seriously DO NOT know LINDY HOP. pure unadulterated lindy hop. . I watched Peter Loggins... he just knows so much STUFF." Finally, David admits that he doesn't know Lindy Hop! I've been waiting for that. But he's right about the fact that not all that many people go to LA to dance. |
| |
MY ego...isn't spattered all over the board. turtle. |

Chance, you look bad when you misquote. Rearranging what David said changes the meaning of what he said. |

"Rearranging what David said changes the meaning of what he said." That's what I was going for. =) |
| |
You cut me deep, Shreck. |
| |
It still makes you look bad. ;) |
| |
Talk dat trash! |
| |
Thanks for the advice Valorie. See you Sunday...When I wipe the floor with David and his little pointy front hairs. |

OK, so along with the incentive that EVERYONE who comes to the Firehouse this Thursday wearing a LindyGroove t-shirt will get in for $3, Luis has convinced me that ANYONE who drives all the way down from LA should get into the Firehouse for FREE. Brian Abe and a couple of his friends are making the trek, why not more LA dancers...it's only a 2.5-hour drive each way. In fact, I will personally give a $100 reward to any person or persons who can kidnap Tony, JC, or Debbie Gitt away from LindyGroove...$1000 for Lance...$10 for Doug Silton. (I'm only kidding, Doug, you're worth at least $20.) |
| |
I don't have a LG T-shirt, but I am one of the ones who has been going up there . Are there going to be incentives for those of us over 21? |
| |
Roll Call...who's going? Thinking of taking my beginner roomie with me, but don't want her to see a half-empty room. Also, is there going to be a beginning lindy lesson beforehand? |
| |
Who's not may be a shorter list! I'm there, and Tio Leo's probably as well! Must hit both. |
| |
I'll be there, maybe bring some friends too. Meeshi, I think a beginners lesson before hand would be great, especially because if they all stayed they could see a ton of awesome dancers afterwards and want to stay and/or come again. |
| |
"Meeshi... seriously only about like... 6-7 people actually go to lindygroove." I don't know about that ... I have been up there several times and seen over a dozen of San Diego's finest. We go for the shirts, Meeshi (well ... perhaps not Ian). Now ... if you could SELL lindygroove t-shirts. It's all about fashion. |
| |
I think I'll be there. |
| |
I'll probably get out tonight too. Must... Move... Ass... |
