**VOTED "BEST BLUES BAND IN SAN DIEGO" (2002-03 SD READER POLL)!!!** This Sunday, we are proud to feature one of the best blues bands this side of Chicago, The Fremonts. From the hypnotic drones of Slim Harpo's "Scratch my Back" to hard swinging tunes of West Coast Pioneers George "Harmonica" Smith and Pee Wee Crayton, the Fremonts remain dedicated to the electric blues of the 1940's and 50's.
From BB King’s to Blind Melons and the Belly up, from Harvelle’s to the Blue Café, from the Tucson Blues Festival to the San Diego Blues Festival, this group of seasoned professionals has played nearly every major blues venue in the Southwest. Don’t let the 50’s B-Movie camp fool you; the Fremonts are serious players with extra swingability.

THURSDAY, JUNE 26TH -- LINDYGROOVE NIGHT at the FIREHOUSE
Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, or, at least, give 'em a good reason to stay in SD. In order to encourage more local dancers to stay in SD this Thursday, EVERYONE who comes to the Firehouse this Thursday wearing a LindyGroove t-shirt gets into the dance for $3. Yes, only $3! In addition, ANYONE who is willing to drive all the way down from LA gets into the Firehouse for FREE (you must show your Driver's License as proof-of residence). Brian Abe and a couple of his LA friends are making the long trek down, so why shouldn't we expect more LindyGroove dancers to do the same...it's only a 2.5-hour drive each way?!
In fact, I will personally offer a $100 reward to any person or persons who can kidnap and bring down Tony, JC, or Debbie Gitt from the LindyGroove. I WANT THEM ALIVE AND WILLING TO DANCE! I am also offering a $1000 reward for Lance, $10 for Doug Silton.

FRIDAY, JUNE 27TH -- CAFE SAVOY IS CLOSED
That's right, Cafe Savoy is closed this Friday (and next Friday, July 4th). We really want to make Cafe Savoy more of a special event, so we have decided to open the swing club on alternate Fridays, starting Friday, July 11th with LIVE SWING MUSIC from The Rockin' Aces! The Rockin' Aces were such a hit last Friday, that we have decided to make them our HOUSE SWING BAND for the summer! So beginning Friday, July 11th, this fun band will play their unique mix of early rock, country swing, blues shuffles, and novelty songs for swing dancers of ALL AGES!
$7 Cover (include FREE swing lesson at 8:15pm)
