Yes, one of LA's top swing bands will be down in San Diego this Sunday to play for the happy feet of SD Swing Dancers. Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five (with Hilary Alexander) is a septet dedicated to preserving the classic and often overlooked small group swing from the late 1930’s and early 1940’s. They play tunes from the books of notable small groups as the Benny Goodman Sextet, Count Basie’s Kansas City Six/Seven, Artie Shaw and his Gramercy Five, as well as Lester Young, Django Reinhardt, Illinois Jacquet, Duke Ellington, and Coleman Hawkins, and featuring vocal numbers from Ella Mae Morse, Anita O’Day, and the young Ella Fitzgerald. Come out and dance to one of the best swing bands in the country on the biggest dance floor in the Gaslamp! Doors open at 7:30pm, FREE swing lesson at 7:45pm, band plays from 8:30-11:30pm.
