Have a couple hundred lying around? Well then come out to Hawaii for our camp and exchange, December 15-21 in beautiful Waikiki! We've got live music every night, hot Asian chicks, (and, er..leads), beaches, awesome food, and it's on an island! If you want to come and are short on cash, we also are trying to arrange some LIMITED housing. (Hey, there's only a handful of dancers in our scene

there is a just for the dances price, it is $90 if you pay by September 1...the sooner you register, the better your chances of getting housed...also, if you are interested in helping out, you may be comped into the dances you help out at...if you are interested in helping out, email me: kennly@kennly.com for more info.

Hawaiian Airlines has some good deals on flights (right around $450) for travel between December 14 and December 22 (I've been playing around with the dates). If you are more flexible with your dates, you might be able to find even cheaper fares...I'll be in Hawaii from December 11-January 9.

Doh! I'm visiting my homeland from Dec 9-14! Hawaiian had a really good deal if you traveled by 12/14 (only $377). Oh well, I'll be visiting family and friends instead of dancing and I bet there won't be enough leads anyway.

Hmm, will there be any dancing opportunities while I'm there, Kennly? I heard a few yrs back that there was dancing at the Waikiki Shell, but perhaps that's gone now.

Hi Laurel, there is dancing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. Tuesdays and Wednesdays dancing is at Halekulani hotel, Lewers Lounge from 8:30 pm- 12 midnight. Wednesdays is still at the Waikiki Bandstand, from 7-9pm. People usually go straight from Bandstand to Halekulani. Halekulani has an evening attire dress code. You could definitely bring family and friends there. It's a cool jazz lounge, a bass/piano duo play there. They will also be playing at the exchange, so at least you can sample the music! On Sundays, we have dancing at Atherton, by the University of Hawaii, from 7-10 pm. We are in the process of considering a new space, which means we might be able to run later, but for now, it is at Atherton YMCA. I'll be in Hawaii from December 11; give me a call while you're there and I'll give you a ride if you need one: (773) 807-3733 cell. There will definitely be dancing!

Oh, and I'm sure we'll be able to dig up some leads..The island boys come home for Christmas, and I'll be bringing in a lead from Chicago, as well

You probably won't have to...the follows in Hawaii know how to (for the most part)...We'll be out dancing. Also, you might want to post that you'll be in town on our forum: http://forum.pecking.org before you arrive.

About Swing Out hawaii - I am a follow & I am going - some great teachers will be there.... it is pricey .... $600 before September 1.

Awesome! I'm glad you're coming! We have a lot of activities and cool stuff all around planned...it sounds like it is pricey, but it is for 7 days, 6 nights of dancing! No one in Hawaii has ever needed as much dance floor as we require, so we may have to either build our own or fly some in! This is going to be our first ever exchange and camp, so we are going all out to make it memorable. If you have any questions about weather, beaches, anything about Hawaii, let me know!
