The Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra is performing a free concert at Huntington Beach Pier on Sunday, May 14 1pm - 3pm.

Outdoor dancing on Mother's Day! So bring sneakers just in case.

If you've never heard them live, this is sure to be a treat. They are one of the country's best swing bands with a full sound and with Bill's original compositions. This band plays for the dancers and has the loyalty of the dancers to prove it. You may know them from their songs: "Mildred, Won't You Behave," "Streamliner," "Bill's Bounce, "or Bill's own "Shim Sham Song."

I'm planning on making the drive at 11 AM to pick up a friend in Irvine then head to the beach. Anyone who'd like a lift, give me an e-mail or talk to me at the Firehouse tonight.

For more details of his upcoming performances, check out:

Not a bad idea, since we will be heading that way.

And afterwards on up to Santa Monica for the 3rd Street Promenade dance from 5-8pm!!
Then if we're still alive, we could stop by the Marriott for some slow tunes to cool us down!

I looked on the 3rd street swingers page and it doesn't say that it is not happening, did you e-mail Kia?

Kia writes in Margies list: "Please keep in mind that the next dance is scheduled in TWO weeks, on May 21st." Sorry Chris!

Chris,

If you check out the 3rd Street Swingers website, there's a schedule at the bottom--Even a countdown clock to the next dance. You can also sign up for Kia's mailing list to get fresh updates without checking on the site.

The dances are NOT every week, usually every other week. Though lately, because of Promenade special events, there have been inconsistent scheduling of dances. Check before making the drive up!

Wait, I'm confused. Are we still going on Sunday? BESO is still playing, yes?

Hi, Kate!

BESO is playing at Huntington Beach Pier this Sunday, one-time only. 3rd Street Promenade is a recurring every other Sunday (generally speaking) event up in Santa Monica. This Sunday, no 3rd Street Promenade, just BESO. Simple, eh?
