Yippeee! We're going to see Swing! The Musical when we go to New York this July. We'll be sitting in the center mezzanine level only 10 rows back from the stage!
By the way, does anyone know where to go dancing in New York? This is our first trip there. We'll be staying somewhere near the Saint James Theater (286?? 44th St. between 8th and Broadway) and would like to go out not too far from there.

Check out Yehoodi.com for the latest scoop on events in the Big Apple (yes, that Big Apple)

During the summer, Lincoln Center has Midsummer's Night Swing. Very Classy

My rec's for general swing places:

Swing46: home of George Gee and only 7 days a week swing dance place. Only a couple of blocks away from the theater where Swing is performing

Irving Plaza on Sunday evenings next to Union Square. Great bands and some of the original dancers show up (Frankie makes it a custom)

The Piano Store is a big hangout for the Yehoodi dancers in the Lower East Side. Leslie (aka Glitter Girl) is the impresario. Please say hello to her for me.

Places I've heard good things about but have never been:

Supper Club: pricey, but tres chic. Isgard and Gene Abad were there last summer.

Windows on the World at the World Trade Center

Pageant

Salvatore Anthon's SPQR: in Little Italy, a great place to have dinner and a dance on Wednedays, I believe.

Lindy in Central Park on Sundays

Hop, Swing and a Jump sponsors DJ'd dances

10-50 is another venue for live music (I believe Yallopin' Hounds and Blue Saracens)

There are always dances going around in NYC. Just check the listings

Please write a review when you return. We'd love to read all about it!

Anyone else can vouch for places?

Swing46 for sure! Have a Vodka Collins for me.

10-50 is good (it starts a 10:50, costs $10.50 to get in and is located at 50th ave and 10th st...)

I only saw the Supper Club while the WLHC were going on. The place is gorgoeous but I don't know wether or not people really spring that much cash to go there on a regular basis.

SPQR is great. Big beauitful floor.

Give my main lindy crush (DDD...the one with the cute dimples) a big kiss from me.
