I couldn't find a topic for this, so I made one. Just wanted to say that I finally made it up there yesterday (sunday), to see Candye Kane, but she was sick. Her band played, though, but with another singer. Interesting place! From the big sticky floor to the shark hanging above the bar. And it was jam-packed full of geezers! I was glad to see that there's lot of other swing dancers with more grey hair and advanced hair loss than me. A couple of the geezers had some good moves! Its like a whole different swing scene. If they get that sort of turn-out regularly for Tami Thomas, I'm surprised that swing events are at risk there, as Shawn said it is. Anyway, it was fun. I'll have to make the drive again sometime. |

Yeah, I'm surprised too. Whenever I've been to the Belly Up's swing nights it's always been packed - too packed actually, that's one of the reasons I don't like dancing there. Admittedly I haven't been there for quite some time but I can't imagine they're not successful nights - it sure always seemed like the bar was doing good business too. What's the story, Shawn? |

The story is that on Saturdays at 5:30pm, they frequently have swing bands, but poor attendance. I'm usually there, as is Benno, but we're the only youngsters! The last few times I've gone, I have had unlimited space to dance. They told Tami that if attendance isn't good, they are cancelling the early shows. I am out of town the next two weekends, so I am counting on YOU, the San Diego swing dancer, to stop by and dance! |

I always remember the place being packed with old timers, what happened to them? |

They died. |
