Did you shrink the typeface as well? It seems too small now. And now the messages have too much white space between them, on most threads.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Shawn (Adminorama) on Friday, August 11, 2000 - 10:48 am: Edit

Yes, I need to fix the white space. I accidentally inserted extra line breaks when regenerating the board. Ooops.

As to the typeface, the message font is too small? Or just the category list tables (that does seem a bit small)?

Just the lists, the messages font size is fine. When everybody extolled the virtues of Yehoodi, I think it was more about the format and the way things are linked, rather than the colour scheme.

I realize, but I don't want to buy the UBB software! So far to emulate the Yehoodi board, I have the topics organized so the most actives are listed first. I also like Yehoodi's use of tables, so I tried to copy that also. I can change most anything, so suggest away.

We're still waiting on your ULTIMATE DJ music choices...

I don't know, pressure, pressure, pressure.

Shawn...this is just my opinion, BUT...this yellow diarrhea color...is um, REALLY NASTY! Something lighter, perhaps? Maybe something more beachy? Blues, greens, whites, ...no dark and nasty.
Sorry, so harsh...but, dang.

Krista

THANK YOU!!

Okay, I don't like that purple background. It's giving me eye strain. Maybe a lovely shade of lilac would work better.

Hmm, whose diarrhea are you talking about, Krista? Nevermind, I guess I don't really want to know!

I don't like the purple, and the type is too small for these old eyes! Love the red stripy on the home page.

Laurel! Is that really necessary? And for the record, I have a huge family, and have parents that are nurses and have worked in and around their hospital all my life, I've seen lots of fun stuff!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Shawn (Adminorama) on Sunday, August 13, 2000 - 03:20 pm: Edit

It's new and improved! Purple nothing, it is PERIWINKLE.

If you have an alternative suggestion, email the hexidecimal color code to me and I will take it under advisement...

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Laurel Nishida (Laurel) on Monday, August 14, 2000 - 12:53 pm: Edit

Sorry, Krista. As you may have noticed, I say a lot of unnecessary things! We won't talk about DIARRHEA anymore.

New and improved, Shawn? Does that mean it's different from when I viewed it on Sat? Looks the same to me - purple. Hexidecimal what???

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Andy (Hitman) on Monday, August 14, 2000 - 01:45 pm: Edit

Laurel... RGB values are what get displayed on the screen.. and on PC's they range in value from 0-255.. so if a color has an RGB of 255, 0, 0, it's pure, vibrant red.

That was the decimal representation... but this can be converted to hexidecimal (base 16)... so the same red would be written FF0000.

clear as mud?! ~8^)

Suggestion: Make the color that defines visited link from non-visited links more distinct.

RGB values... hmm, okay, I get it, yup.

FFOOOO to you too, Andy!

Being able to edit one's messages would be nice as well.

That's a feature this board can do if I upgrade to the "professional" version for $100. When SwingOrama FINALLY becomes profitable, I'll have that feature in place!

Shawn, I just tried posting a load of photos and the server went crash.

Pictures? Cool!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Adminorama (Adminorama) on Friday, October 20, 2000 - 01:33 pm: Edit

Hmmm. Try posting one again and see what happens. Be sure they are JPEGs (.jpg) or GIFs (.gif), 72dpi and not bigger than 100k each. Bitmaps (.bmp) do not work.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Natalie Roy (Hepnat) on Friday, October 20, 2000 - 02:19 pm: Edit

They're jpegs and between 22 and 36kb each.
Will try a sample one now

Bring On the spandex and feathers!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Adminorama (Adminorama) on Saturday, November 11, 2000 - 09:28 pm: Edit

I DID IT! I upgraded the message board.

Auto archiving (see the link at the top - it's set at a threshold of 75 messages, leaving 25 and filing 50 away).

New registration features, the ability to correct messages, etc. are all on the way!

This is great!

Now if only people would use that editing function....

Like this...

Hey, Shawn. How about putting on a feature that shows a message HAS been edited (like Yehoodi). That way people can follow threads more coherently knowing that posts have been changed.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Adminorama (Adminorama) on Sunday, November 12, 2000 - 03:35 pm: Edit

Uh, I can only do so much! Yehoodi has a team of folks running the show. SwingOrama is a one man show.

When there are a few more feature suggestions, I'll implement them.

I just edited a post! It's like "undo" on my G3! Woohoo!!! ...(Wow, too bad I can't
do that in real life everytime I say something I wish I hadn't).

My monitor is showing the topic selection as black type on a purple background which is nearly impossible to read.

I have to highlight everything in order to read anything.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Reuben Brown (Gurureuben) on Monday, November 13, 2000 - 10:19 am: Edit

I'll second that.

Though on my screens it isn't impossible to read, it is impossible to not loose my lunch from looking at the hidious color scheme.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Adminorama (Adminorama) on Monday, November 13, 2000 - 11:03 am: Edit

Ok, I'll clear that up! Rueben, it's a blessing in disguise. Maybe that will help you lose those extra pounds?

Sorry about the site being down a little this weekend - the server on which SwingOrama resides isn't as well maintained as I would like, but it sure is affordable!
