The teachers one has potential... If you want to keep it completely neutral and have it be the least work, have each of the teachers draft a short paragraph themselves and submit it to you. That way you just cut and paste and they can update it whenever they want. The pictures aren't really necessary and they take a while to load. I'm not sure including the text of the newsitems is really a good idea for user-submissions... If you want to be like yehoodi you'd have a bunch of people that were all authorized to write news items. Those writers would screen the items and summarize them... |

As to the teachers - I like having the photos. I can shrink them so they load faster. Each of the teachers listed has been asked to submit a short paragraph about themselves, so I'm ahead of you on that one. For the news Items, it is only the first post in the news thread that will show up on the new SwingOrama page. As such, I will trust folks not to post inappropriate stuff or posts that are too lengthy. People have been good about it so far, so I think it's ok. As to the pinups - do you really want me to keep them? I will if interest is there. I was going to have San Diegan's picture of the week, but both would still be ok. |

Yeah, good luck deciding which teachers make the list! Any "San Diego teacher of Lindy" is still broad.. do you include all of Meeshi's part-time teaching partners? Davis Dance Studio? |

Well, for now I'll keep it to the recognizable Lindy Hop faces in the San Diego crowd. Hopefully I will not have to make decisions beyond that. Hey Ron, when you have a chance, perhaps you should change the first page of the Lindy Page to your own music page. The others aren't getting updated anymore, so somehow including them in your pages should be fine. |

Great idea, Krista. Just make sure that you include Erik and Sara, they have been teaching the lesson prior to the band at the Catamaran on Wednesdays for about 2 or 3 years now. I understand that they don't come out and socialize on a regular basis, but their presence as instructors has been consistant for years. |

I think all San Diego Lindy instructors who want to be included should be. Even those who's names aren't recognized as part of the "in crowd". Don't promote studios. Studios don't teach Lindy, instructors do. The teachers where/when info will include any studio that they teach through. And how about this idea: Maybe a SwingOrama dance-workshop day could be set up where all the instructors included on the instructor page would donate their time to teach 1 workshop to present themselves and their teaching style to the swing community. Cover charge to attend the workshop day would only have to cover the cost of the venue. The instructors could share the cost of promotion for the event. Maybe this could be as simple as a big picnic in a park or at a school where there is some kind of dancable surface; or with a rented dance floor. Maybe even some local swing bands would like to represent themselves with a trio or quartet. Maybe ......... |

Jane - Emily tried something like that and it did not do well. Alas. Really though, there are only a few teachers who actively self promote, and within that tiny group, there is enough competition that they do not get together and collaborate. |

Hey Shawn, I put some stuff in my profile, but it doesn't show up when I select my name from a header line. Shawn, I think the music page is fine as it is. Some of the items are San Diego specific, but my reviews page could really live anywhere... Also, I don't want to bother... notice I'm down to updating my pages once every 2 months, and I might be late this time around. Not that anyone would notice, but its a personal deadline. |
