WOW! Nice going SDLHS! This is Chris and Shana from Florence. We're at an internet cafe where I've hooked up my laptop to do some work. Hope all have had a good New Year's! We were on the Champs-Elysees in Paris for ours. I start my final semester on Monday. We've been traveling lately and are ready for more. Shana has been doing great. Hey, Chris and Shana!!!! I've been thinking of you lately. San Diego is collectively coming to the same conclusion that you "arrived at" about 2 years ago, i.e. that we need more high energy, good quality swing music in SD. Well, it's happening! You planted and others watered. But the fruit is looking pretty good right about now. Lots of growth. We miss you. Glad things are going well. Nothing collective for New Years here in terms of a dance or an exchange, but there were some fun parties at dancers homes, which I opted for rather than going out of town. Take good care and join in the forum here whenever you can. Your STILL part of the scene here, albeit in abstencia. Jeff |

Don't forget about this month's Swings'kool, next Sunday before the Aubergine! There'll be a collegiate shag workshop (teachers TBA), plenty of old dance clips to watch and DJed music by Rob Duncan to practice what you've learned. All for $3 ($1 SDLHS members). When: Sunday, February 23 Where: War Memorial Building, Balboa Park Time: 6:30-10:00 p.m. Cost: $1 members, $3 non-members (may join SDLHS at dance to receive discount) Also, in an effort to work together, I will give a $2 discount for the opening night of the Aubergine to those who attend Swings'kool. Just show us your Swings'kool wristband and get into the Aubergine for $5. Don't forget, the Aubergine is a 21-and-up bar and has a dress code, so bring some dressy clothes to change into before heading over. It is literally a 5 minute drive from the War Memorial Building (take Park Blvd. to B St., Right on B, Left on 4th, pass Market and you're there). See you Sunday. One more week! |

I guess that Tertia and I will be teaching the lesson and we might do a Balboa class instead. If we do, we will spend some time on basics and styling and some time on new tricks. |
