Shana and I went to see the JAG this past Sunday at Juke Joint in the Gaslamp. I really surprised that we were the only people there from our scene! The place was packed! No cover charge, and all ages - it's a restaurant. It goes from 3 - 5 pm every third Sunday at the Juke Joint. The music was amazing! There are some really talented musicians locally. There was a flutist that just blew my mind away! I forget his name, but he was a must see. Next third weekend in August the whole group will be down there again. A random group of local musicians are grouped together to produce live music. They begin with a familiar tune to everyone and then they JAM! It is mostly 30's swing to early Be-Bop. We are going there next month, hope to see some familiar faces.

I think that it runs from more than 3-5pm (see the calendar). I wanted to go but had prior obligations, alas. The Jazz Artists Guild is run by Mikole Kaar, who puts together a great swing band on occasion (Jane - perhaps for your event?). I will get mailing list info so people can receive the newsletter.
