Today celebrate the birth of Duke Ellington!
Born 100 years ago today.....He had a swing band long before the swing era; he hated the term and never wanted to be refered to as a "Jazz Musician".

One of my Favorites!!!!

Ok Ron - I haven't had time to really finish it properly, but I posted what I've completed so far. I'll soup it up over time, and I have some more "famous favorites" to enter, but you can see where I am going with it!

ENJOY

I'm listening to Internet radio at work and I just heard Sammy Davis Jr.'s "The Candy man Can" from his Greatest hits Live album. I never realized how that song swings (at least this version). Does anyone have that song? Ron? I'd love to get a chance to dance to it sometime.....

Nope, sorry. I don't have or play a lot of lounge... Hey, I remember playing that song on grade school band. Wow, I just flashed on an image of some old guy at the Rocket saying.. "hey little girl, would you like some candy?"

I'm telling you guys, that version of Candy Man didn't sound like lounge, it was big band swing at it finest. I'll see if I can find it on Napster.....

Kate, Esquivel is a blast. It's a riot when you hear all that "Zoo Zoo Zooing" from the lounge singers. "Miniskirt" is a favorite Esquivel song of mine.
