I have for sale the *complete* 15 volume set of the Swing recreations in stereo that were issued by Time/Life. These recordings were done in the 1960s by the bands of Billy May and Glen Gray and feature many of the original sidemen from
the Swing Era, frequently recreating the very
recordings they had made decades earlier.
Each boxed set contains 3 LPs which trace the
recorded history of Swing music year by year. The series goes up to about 1946 and there is a volume that covers the post-war years, as well as a volume that includes things they seem to have wanted to include in the earlier volumes, but neglected to.
There is a seperate volume of all Benny Goodman
recordings done by Benny himself.
Each boxed set is available for the wonderfully low price of $10.00 per set. That's only $3.33 per disc. Each three record set originally included a book featuring photos and essays on various Swing bands, their
leaders, sidemen, recordings and legacy in Swing history.
Although I am able to sell the individual 3-LP sets individually (but I would give preference to selling them as a lot), the books, which have NEVER been reprinted, to the best of my
knowledge, 15 books in all are available as a
complete set *only* for the price of $200.00.
The books are fantastic, printed in a highly coated stock and feature hundreds of photographs and endless discographical information.
