Hi everyone, I had the pleasure of attending the marine corp function downtown at the US Grant hotel on Friday night. Rob Duncans band played and I am telling you all, they are by far the best band in town! Has anyone even seen them? Willie the singer is FANTASTIC and Rob is an excellent piano player. All the horns are super tight and they cover all the songs I see every one filling the dance floor to on DJ nights. There were I think 14 or 15 people in the band and they sounded AWESOME in that ballroom. We would be smart to support this band. Britt |

They will be at the Rocket on Dec. 10th. I guess we'll have to see them then! |
| |
Aw shux! If you'd like to find out more about the band, check out our website at http://www.dirtybourbon.com or, come check us out at the Rocket on Dec. 10th. Rob |

Dancers: In order to increase our appeal to corporate clients, The Dirty Bourbon Band is going to start booking ourselves as an ensemble that will include a small troupe of dancers. Performers would be paid for their performance work and would also be given the chance to teach large groups for a fee. Obviously, our plan is to draw upon the local talent in San Diego. However, we do not want to create a rigidly structured cast. We hope to give many SD dancers a chance to get some performance experience under their belt. In order for this plan to get underway, I need to start assembling a promotional kit for the group. I'll be taking photographs of dancers tonight at the Rocket. Dancers who might be interested in this idea should show up tonight in vintage attire. Please don't go out and buy clothes! I just need a few snappy pics to sell this baby. Comments and feedback greatly appreciated, Rob |

Rob- You guys were fantastic at Saturday's Hallowswing event, and the costumed band members really added to the party atmosphere. Thank you! |
| |
Ha! Thanks. Here's a run down of just a few of our costumes for that night: Drummer: He wore a top hat Trombone: He wore a purple wig Tenor Sax: He bought a $2.00 witch costume from RiteAid and just wore the robe Aren't we creative? Your costumes were damn funny though. Correctionalriffic! |

I totally cracked up at the use of a harmonica by the lead singer. It just gave me the giggles.. harmonica and big band! I couldn't think of any other swing bands/songs I have that use harmonica, but now I realize that Ron Sunshine's band does, like in "Lounging at the Waldorf".. It worked, anyway. I think you played "Intermission Riff", isn't that originally a Stan Kenton song? That was fun, I'd never danced to that before... I may have to start spinning that when I DJ. |
| |
Intermission Riff was Stan Kenton. It's a trombone feature. Wait til you hear our new trombone play it. Mmmmmm.. |

Thank you to all the people who donated money to help pay for the dance floor we provided at the swing festival in Balboa Park. A very special thanks to those who helped me break it down as well. I'm sorry I couldn't provide a larger floor; my car was too small. The next time we have to bring a floor to a gig, I'll try and enlist the help of someone with a truck. Thanks to all the Lindy Bombers who showed up. It made for a great weekend. Rob |

Damn, I never saw this thread! Thanks for the comment about the Harmonica Ron. I rarely play it anymore but I love it. My sax player goes into fits and convulsions when I bring it out due to his years of playing with Red Archibald. Wait until we hire an accordion player, then you'll really have a conniption.
