HELP!!

I can get the Bob Gordon Trio at Break Away on June 25, BUT I need a piano. He requested a real piano, and not an electric one. The Dance North County studio does not own a piano, and I was wondering if anyone had contacts or references of places that rent pianos? Please, please let me know ASAP.

He plays 30's swing, and it is as pure and clear than anything else I've heard locally, for that matter - else where in the world.

If you or if you know someone that can help please contact me at my e-mail

Thanks!!

The Bob Gordon trio is EXCELLENT! Nice job Chris!

I have a piano, but the cost and effort of lugging it over there for the night can't be worth it.

Shawn,
You do!! I think we can get it over there, has in been tuned lately? Let me know!!

Unless you want a honky tonk affect you will need to hire a piano that is already on a wheeled frame (plus wherever you are taking it to will need a door big enough to wheel it in flat). Any tilting etc. and you will need to get it tuned before the performace - get it there a few days early to give it _some_ chace to settle.

No really, what is a Jack and Jill, Jill contest? I'm guessing it's one guy dancing with 2 girls.

Chris, please tell me that was a typo!

A jack and jill, jill is one lead and two follows, or as Ron would say...a threesome on the hardwood floor.

Yeah, that's what I thought, and that's why I hoped it'd be a typo...

I'm working with Chris to bring the KGB trio to Breakaway on Saturday July 1st.

"KGB trio rules, by far the best trio I have ever heard and danced to...period." --Peter Loggins

Thanks for the lesson Saturday, Chris and Shana. I had fun.
Having different instructors teaching different things every week is a great idea. I always have a good time at those lessons.

Thanks Mike!
It's good to hear a positive reaction to Break Away! We are constantly trying to come up with interesting classes that dancers can benefit from, live bands, DJ's not normally heard in SD, and contests that are fun and full of energy! We try to create the most socially exciting event that we can, in the space that we have. Just hearing one positve response makes me feel that we're doing something right.

Reminder that June 10, this weekend, Julia Hall and Lisa Conway will be teaching Collegiate Shag and Dennis Hong will be DJing!! $6 at the door!!
If your not at Catalins I hope to see a lot of you up there!!

Great turn out last night at BREAK AWAY. Julia and Lisa did a great job teaching Double Shag (Collegiate) and Dennis did excellent at DJ. The crowd really loved him, I mean they clapped after every song! Those that were clapping were not sitting down - they were out on the floor dancing! I'm pretty sure he played all the requests and even anounced them. That was nice, a DJ that anounced the song and the musician. Again GREAT JOB Dennis! I think it would be nice if you could get in the regular rotation at the Rocket again, (Hint, hint Margaret!! J)

Julia and Lisa brought up a good idea that I think we will implement at Break Away. They said it might be nice to have an earlier lesson that is a building lesson for about 2 months. Same instructor for 2 months taking a group through a dance style from the beginning. This will probably begin in August.

I just want to thank those who come up and support this venue, special thanks go out to Joe and Tertia!! They are always there to help us out!! Thanks guys!

Remember everyone the Jack and Jill, Jill contest is July 8 e-mail me if you want to participate!

Oh, I just want to add that I do not appreciate the people that come to the dance and piddle around at the entrance waiting for the right time to sneak in. You know who you are. When Shana and I go to other venues we pay just like anyone else, we don't think we're any different or better than any one of our peers.

I can't believe that people try to get in without paying! In my book that's theft (no difference that it's a service you're stealing rather than hard goods).
