I thought you awesome SD dancers might want to know about this.....

Leader of the Pack-- touring musical

I am producing a revival of the Broadway musical LEADER OF THE PACK.. The Songs of Ellie Greenwich, starring SHA NA NA. It goes into rehearsal Dec 20 and opens Jan 7, 2001 in THousand Oaks, CA. It plays Phoenix and TUcson as well as closes Jan 28 (3 weeks total).

I am looking for a way to contact young Swing dancers (18-30ish) to audition for and appear in this production. It pays $750/week plus out-of-town housing, travel and per diem. Dancers would have to join Actors Equity, the actors union. We rehearse in the LA area.

The "set" of the show will be an American Bandstand-type production and the chorus (dancers) will play teens on that TV show. A choreographer will stage the musical numbers, with special "feature" spots for one or two Swing couple specialists (kind of like SWING now on Broadway). Vocal abilities chorus singing) is preferred but not required-- we are looking for GREAT swing dancers to be featured in 2 or 3 segments in the show and to dance in the chorus throughout.
Contact me (Mark Edelman) at 913-338-1801 or our LA casting director, Joan Simmons, at 562-430- 7392. Auditions will be held in September; notice will appear in Backstage magazine.
