Hi everyone, All of you having a great summer so far? I've been trying to take a little break from dancing as of late, however after spending back to back weekends visiting friends in LA and SF, I'm ready to break out of my shell and become a dancing freak again. Being in SF especially inspired me to move and groove with the best of them and there was a lot happening that weekend there: The 820 Special, Jellyroll at Larkspur Landing, Jeremy Sutton's "Move to the Groove" night, Steve Lucky and this great salsa band at the Polk Street Fair, Les Brown and his orchestra and Swing Session on the U.S.S. Horner aircraft carrier(with two large dance floors and about 1,800 people!) and ending it all at the imfamous "Lindy in the Park" under a bright blue sky. Saw quite a number of San Diegans in SF. This was definitely something I needed in a bad way. I was starting to feel uninspired and burned out from dancing at that point. Now, I have to get ready for Vegas next week and the "Groovie Movie"Hollywood style workshop in DC two weks after that. The real reason why I'm emailing you all is to ask a simplefavor in helping someone (I keep bumping into in my travels) find a place to live in San Diego. Her name is Colleen and she's from LA. I've danced with her in Denver, SF, LA and at our swing exchange and she's a real good dancer. A very nice person, too. She'll be attending classes at UCSD this fall and would like to hook up with someone (preferably people who understand the dancer mentality) who's currently looking for a roommate or who knows of someone else who is looking. She's looking for a quiet place to study and sleep, a place that's no more than 30 minutes drive from UCSD, and that the rospective roommate doesn't smoke and have cats (she's highly allergic to them). She'll be on a tight school budget and can only manage to pay no more than $400 a month for rent. She'll be doing part time work as well. If you like to help her out in any way possible, her email address is: col@rhythm.com She's Colleen from LA, a very light follow and she dances Savoy (sorry LA stylers, but I don't think she'll shy away from you guys for a dance, just because,...). Did I mention that she's a very nice person to boot? Anyways, hope you guys can help her out and I'll see you guys and gals out on the dance floor real soon. Thanx Gene ecabad@earthlink.net |
