I think that I have the biggest ego in San Diego...errr, out of San Diego. Its the biggest in San Diego when I'm actually in the city. When I'm not in the city then I can't very well have the biggest ego in the city. Ummmmm....yeah. Me and my invisible partner Bam Bam are the top of the food chain. No one can beat our aerials. We perform with a precision and grace un-paralelled by any mortal man. Even the invincible shadow charlie shall not surpass the mad swiveling fury induced by Bam Bam and her Feat of Frenzy. I rule. If you can't see my invisible partner Bam Bam, trust me she's there.

No way! I have the biggest ego in San Diego. I RULE. It casts a shadow so large it obscures any other Shadow. I don't even need an invisible partner to gobble up the competition.

Any other pretenders are just full of hot-aerials.

(And any and all adulation is free and there are NO age requirements!)

My imaginary dance partner can beat up your shadow.

For me, one sure sign of an ego is whether the lead is paying attention to me or just dancing for themselves.

I would like to point out that none of you people claiming to have the biggest ego in San Diego have a chat topic with your name on it...

Yes, today, victory is mine. I shall savor the moment. All those who doubted my superiority now tremble at my feet. Tofu, now you must eat meat (crow, that is).

I met some guy some from SD that seemed cool and all but when he saw my partner and I do an aieral (the one that the follow rollover backwards and the lead catches her and lifts her back on her feet, it's in Hellazoppin and we were just messing around) and proceed to tell me that the aieral should be called the "Dax air" after himself and how he doesn't learn anything new at workshops anymore... I think he's name was Dax or Dacs or something of that nature. He didn't even give his partner any credit (I thought she was pretty good). Don't know him at all but I got the sense that he had a good size ego.

I don't have a nominee for TBEISD. But, I think this comment corresponds with an abundance of ego. I have to tell y'all that I love to dance. I love the feeling of catching a break or the thrill of true partner connection. Nevertheless, I HATE the ego that becomes associated with a dancer who has progressed to intermediate and beyond. When a dancer's confidence grows, the ego becomes inflated. Soon that bursting ego starts throwing criticisms out of others. I hate that. I personally don't have the most dreamy basic nor can I spin without flailing somewhere in the middle...but I dance from the heart. When I hear others criticize and make fun of a couple on the floor, that whittles away my own self-confidence. Who really wants to become fodder for someone else's insensitive ego? (let alone spend 3 minutes dancing with one who will later make a malicious comment to a friend) That just ain't fair! So boys...do as Frankie Manning says and treat your lady like a queen. The same goes for the girls (but don't tell the boys you think they are queens--they may not like that). Think about how your words can impact others....

I totally agree with Sdge that we should be supportive of each other. With that kind of positive atmosphere, we would all blossom as dancers.
I'm sure you didn't mean that all dancers become egotistical as they become more experienced?

I don't know that the dance brings out the ego, but it definitly brings out the insecurity.

Can you stay out late on Friday and Saturday? Hope so, with all the
great San Fransisco dancers down here. If not, Lindy by the Bay is
from 3 to 6! Hopefully, that's not too late! (just kidding).
