Here's something I put together. Let's see if it works:

http://www.SwingtimeSD.com/SwingBrain/search.cgi

I've not indexed all the swing sites out there, but so far, it includes most swing band sites and a few of the major city sites. I'm struggling with javascript links but it will deal with that shortly (I hope).

I've indexed more of the major sites. I'm getting some double listings, but it is getting closer. Take it for a spin! You can use "+" to force certain words, just search band or general swing sites and more.

Hmmm. I just entered Rueben Brown and it seemed to work. What browser are you using? And when did you get the error?

IE5... I get the error when I click on the link you posted. I just tried again and got a error 500 this time.

Ok, last try:

Perhaps the caps were a mistake.

That was it. I forgot subdirectories were case sensitive. Sorry about that.

So be the RonBrain and RuebenBrain and try the SwingBrain!

(Dennis - you can be the SmallBrain.)

ah: lowercase

Its only as good as the sites that you index, Shawn, and there's so many sites out there, and they always change locations...

Bitchin!

Thanks for the support Ron!

Actually, the indexing is ongoing and automatically spiders the whole site. So if the URLs change completely, of course it won't work, but otherwise, it's the most up to date search of swing sites that exists. So there!

The search engine is working better. I'm still indexing sites and fixing bugs. When done, I'll announce it more widely. Give it a try at:

http://www.swingbrain.com/

There are thousands of sites on there. I haven't finished adding sites (especially teachers). If you have any suggestions as to what to add, let me know!

Thanks

Why can't I find swingtimesd?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Shawn Hanna on Wednesday, December 01, 1999 - 03:34 pm: Edit

I only indexed the calendar and Meeshi's class schedule. I figured I could add my site at any time!

I'll add a live calendar search next - searching major cities event calendars on the fly. Perhaps NY, SF, LA, CHI, Boston, SD?

Don't forget Washington, DC; Seattle; Orlando, FL; Portland, Oregon; Philadelphia, PA

Anyone else know where major swing cities are?

Oh, yeah, Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas (Bellagio hotel, I believe).

Oh, maybe I wasn't clear. I indexed ALL the regional sites. Several thousand web pages worth. The instant search would search through the regional calendars for that day. The search engine has no bad links and is refreshed several times a month automatically!

Enjoy!

Well, I didn't know where to post this... so I figured this as good as any...

Anyone out there looking for a place to live? I'm looking for someone to rent my place, since I practically live with Emmy...

The pad: 1 Bedroom in Point Loma area. 1 block off bay, downtown view, private beach, new carpet. Quiet neighborhood.

I drop by the place every other week, so the place would virtually be yours. I pay $800 for the pad, and want to rent it for $500...

anyone interested.. mail: goodena@hotmail.com
or if y'all know someone in the hunt, pass the word along!

thanks,
andy (hitman)
