Dancing with and watching the competing dancers at the Rocket last night with their wide assortment of styles (not Savoy or LA or HW,but their personal styles), I got to wondering what each of them may have picked up early on in some class or another that had a major influence on the way they dance today. So I thought I'd put the question out on the Forum to see what you all might have to say about your own "turning point" memorable instructional quotes. What were they and where/when did you hear them? For me, I'd been dancing (not Lindy) for about 2 years when I arrived early to my intermediate class and was watching a beginning level class. I finally "heard" this for the first time, although I'm sure it had been said many times before: "don't put your feet where your body can't go". Wow. What a concept! The pieces I'd been assembling thus far finally fell into place and my dancing improved rapidly and dramatically. Jane H |
