I have a 1920's Camp & Company Piano. It is a full size upright, solid Cherry (HIGHLY FIGURED), instrument with a big fantastic sound. The mechanicals have been completely restored and regularly maintained. They keys are in perfect condition. Email me if you are interested (kingofcardiff@hotmail.com). Here's a photo - it really does look this impressive: ![]() |

Just try to find wood like that today! |

From the 20's? Must have terrible sound quality. No thanks, I'll stick to my Casio... it's modern, so it must be better. |
| |
Wrong! It has fantastic sound quality. The entire sound board has been rebuilt. It has a big presence and the action is impeccable. The Casio only suits folks whose ear isn't in tune with the rich sounds of an original instrument. |
| |
Dude, please don't tell me my little joke really actually went over your head. I was making a "Ron" silly. |
| |
Fess up, I've seen you pounding out the Flock of Sea Gulls tunes on your Casio in the DJ booth |
| |
No way dude... I'd rather play on the '06 Upright Grand piano my folks have. It's a player piano too... and they have a number of rolls for it. Solid mahogany, and at least two tusks worth of ivory. Sure don't make em like they used to. |
| |
OK, since we're piano dropping, my folks have a solid burr walnut 18th century Beckstein grand. Ptttthhhhhhhhp! |
| |
That would be "burl" I believe. hee, hee Okay... top this one. The cemetary/mausoleum I used to work at has a hand carved 1800's Steinway full sized grand. Piano dropping. Such dorks we are. |
| |
Hmmm...so that's why he's called Ghoul-ru Reuben... I slay me. |
| |
The piano I grew up with was a Steinway baby grand that was purchased for my father to learn on in the early 30's. It may not be a Beckstein, but it sure is nice! BUY MY PIANO....BUY MY PIANO! |
| |
Have you ever stood in a 13 foot deep grave? It's pretty sweet. |
| |
Cool! Were there like skulls and rotting flesh and maggots and stuff in there with you? |
| |
No, I've only jumped into fresh graves. You never see that stuff anyway though, even during a disentombment. The only time you see skulls or bones is if you look into the peephole of the cremation chamber at just the right time. You know, after everything else has burned, but before the bones start to breakdown. |
| |
I have no problem picturing Reuben in a mausoleum...in old horror flick, (wearing a long black dusty coat and a stove-pipe hat), jumping into graves and wreaking general havoc upon the dead. Dang all I had to do at my part-time job was load up bodies and wheel them to necropsy. I knew just how to time it so the bodies had stiffened up, making lifting easier. So how about that piano? It's a beaut! |
| |
Next time your in Pasadena I could take you on a tour of an incredible mausoleum... and show you that carved piano as well. |
| |
Field trip to the mausoleum!! I bet people always want to play creepy movie music on that piano. Not me though, I only know "heart and soul" (with one finger). |
| |
Hey, Reuben, which cemetary did you work at in LA? Morbidly curious, -HopM |
| |
Mountain View Cemetary, Mortuary, & Mausoleum in Altadena. |
| |
Hmmm...that's not the one that Evelyn Waugh wrote about in "The Loved One," is it? |
| |
I'd have to read that to know. |
| |
"Dang all I had to do at my part-time job was load up bodies and wheel them to necropsy. I knew just how to time it so the bodies had stiffened up, making lifting easier." And so, Aletha, after they had "stiffened", what position did you move them in to exactly? And, Michael, you are so "ghroulvy", man. |
| |
Jeff, Get your head out of the gutter man! Ewwwwww. I would move then onto a covered gurney (with help of course) to wheel them out of the hospital room. |
| |
Sorry...cue card came up! Had to read it!!! |
| |
Girl!!! I just looked at your "profile" on your email address!!! Yikes!! Talk about, "Ewwwwww"!!! I always knew you had an "open mind", but, must you illustrate it sooo graphically?? Hey...I want one of those email "profiles" too. I like Fire Mark's. He has a NICE photo. How do ya do it??? Also, Aletha, can you ask Shawn, the Kind of Cardiff, to update my "pop-up" window for LbtB? We also need a "Bullet" on the cover page of Swingorama to let everyone know that it's officially starting this Saturday. Tell him I said, "THANKS!!!!" And give him a big kiss for me!! I do apologize for "stiffin'" ya in the previous post. I'll try hard not to do it any longer...(hee,hee). |
| |
Yeah, I created that image by taking an MR of my head and importing the data into 3D medical imaging software. It's now on the cover of an Interventional MR textbook. To make your own profile, scroll down the left menu and under "Utilities" click on "edit profile". Simple dimple. The KING is currently working with an environmental expert to remove asbestos tiles from the "palace". I'll make sure to pass on your requests. Somehow I doubt we'll be hearing the last of your "cue cards". But that just makes life more interesting, no? |
| |
Hey how much are you selling the piano for |
| |
A very reasonable price! |
