heeelllllloooo San Diego! jivin' joules here, from the East Coast. I'm going to be making a pass through your fair city next week and would love to do some dancing while I'm there :D Looks like I will be there Monday afternoon through Friday afternoon. I've checked out the calendar, what do you think the best nights are? I can't wait! Hopefully you folks will help me fill up my dance card while I'm there ;) (HopMichael already owes me a few from a debt long ago, but I'm sure I can find a few free spaces on it ;)) see ya soon-- jivin' joules |

Just don't miss the Firehouse on Thursday nights. It's the highlight of the Lindy week in San Diego (well, the new Lindy By The Bay has promise!). Shawn |
| |
By the way, for all you follows out there, I neglected to mention another Yehoodim will be in the house. So be sure to get your dance in with Talaga too :D It's worth it! No cat-fighting over him though, hopefully there will be enough to go around. And if not, well, I call first dibs. |
| |
for the days you will be in town, i'd hit the rocket on tuesday and the firehouse on thursday. too bad you will miss friday night at cafe savoy and saturday afternoon's lindy by the bay. maybe some other time! |
| |
I'm arriving Saturday evening so any tips on Saturday or Sunday activities would be appreciated. -David |
| |
there isn't anything specific lined up for saturday evening, but last weekend we all hung out after lindy by the bay. so, maybe you could let us know how to get a hold of you the evening you arrive and someone can fill you in on where they will all be. i'd be happy to do it, but i will be out of town this weekend. sundays, also, have no specific events arranged. but, maybe someone else knows of something going on. good luck, and can't wait to meet you next thursday at the firehouse. |
| |
David, you can call me on my cell phone and I can let you know if we're going out after LbtB. Jeff Eldridge 619.339.7117 cell |

Will do. Looking forward to being back in California... David |

Hi everyone, I'm headed up to san francisco next wednesday for five days, does anyone know of places to go out and swing? Thanks. BTW, hey Sean caught you on tv the other day playing with the UCSD symphony, lookin smooth in your pimp suit and cymbals. Rich. |
| |
thursday nights is the 9:20 special, friday nights are different each week (although they are going west coasting pretty often now), saturday nights is the doghouse, sunday afternoon is lindy in the park, sunday evening is jive at five (5pm-8pm). do you need a contact person for directions and such? |
| |
Tony? a little help here... |
| |
Come give a warm welcome to a fellow Arizona Lindy Hopper : Steve Davidson. He will be in town for one whole week. He's planning on attending the Rocket, Firehouse, and Claytons Let's give him a San Diego welcome. |
| |
Is that "teacher Steve" who taught in Vegas? Is he here THIS week? |
| |
Woohoo - lead. |
| |
Mel has got all the info you need |
| |
I second that woohoo. |
| |
thanks mel, a contact person would be nice if you got one. |
| |
rich - send me your email address, and i will give you a few names and emails of really nice people in san fran. one thing that i just thought of...the week you will be up in san fran is the week of the sacramento camp. which means that a lot of the san fran people will be in sacramento. i'm sure it won't affect any of their regular events, it will just mean a few less people out and about. and , i'm sure i can find you someone who won't be going to sacramento and who will be able to give you directions and such. varriano@rohan.sdsu.edu |
| |
Richard: Thanks! The camera seemed to like my crash cymbals. :-) Have to keep them shiny for occasions like that... I'll let you know when you can see the "pimp suit" again later this quarter...-ô |
| |
Hi everyone, I'm NOT NOT NOT headed up to san francisco next wednesday for five days... for those of you who are confused =) heheh! Rich (with the pony-tail) |
| |
I was talking to a few leads up at the SFLX who said that they are visiting San Diego soon, (I think it may even be this weekend). They, Ben and Anders (Seattle) and Dennis (Boston), spoke about going to the Firehouse, Cafe Savoy and maybe LBTB. Anyway, I thought some of the followers out there may want to know... |
| |
There is a lead (from SF) and a follow (from London) who need a place to stay on Sat Oct 6th. I can take them to Lindy by the bay, but they need a place to crash for one night. My place is full already. |
| |
My place is available. 619.339.7117 |
| |
I'd love to offer a place to the London follow. Swimming pool and hot-tub available, plus I'm only 10 mins drive, if that from lindy by the bay. I want to make London connections before the hols, and before moving back there next year. Cell 858 735 1088. Nat |
| |
Moving back there next year? Say it isn't so, Natalie! And I hope my whacking you in the shin with a chair leg didn't have anything to do with it... sorry about that.. |
| |
Actually, I'm moving solely because of the brutality you inflicted on me last night! Actually, we had planned to repatriate in about September time of 2002. But there's now the distinct poosibility that it might be around March. But hey, y'all welcome to visit either in the UK, or France (if there are still any airline companies that are solvent and operating by that time, or that we're not in the middle of world war 3), and I'm sure I'll make it back occaisionally. |
| |
Hey, this may be of no consequence to any of you, but Tony and I will be in town on Thursday and plan to be at the Firehouse, so everybody better be there. Or at least Quint 'cuz then I can make fun of how drunk he was at the exchange. MAYA!!!!! what's up, girl? you are finally coming back to town. awesome! i'm so looking forward to seeing you again this thursday. we didn't get to hang out in san fran...i barely saw you. i hope you had fun, cause i know i did! see ya soon, mel |
| |
Of no consequence???? As, if!!!!!!!!!!Look, you made me use gratuitous punctuation, you bad, bad, girl. Save me a dance, both of you....though not necessarilly as the same time. Although..... |
| |
I miss the way your dirty little mind works Nat. And Mel, I'm excited too. I haven't done any dancing up here and people are a little less than helpful in keying me in on places to go or who to go with. I'm dying for some good, home town groovin! See ya tomorrow! |
| |
Asianville is cool. Save me a dance, Emeraldcat! -Hop "Storyville" Michael |
| |
Oh, and it's rumored that Liz O'Grady will be making an appearance this week at the Firehouse. -Hop "Grapevine" Michael |
| |

| |
Meghann, Welcome back! Good seeing you up at SF, sweetie! so, back for some San Diego groove? Well, enjoy Clayton's and dance the night away. HopM will be away and miss you. -Hop "Steve Lucky" Michael |
| |
Hey all! Thanks so much for a fabulous night Thursday. Tony and I had a blast. Hopefully we'll be back in about two weeks for a whole weekend, depending on whether we aren't under slave labor at school.Take care, Maya "nihongo o sukoshi hanashimasu" Seaman (refer to recent japanese thread) |
| |
Lisa Rae (Firetwirl) dropped me a note to say she's coming to San Diego next week! She's visited us early this year and she's a dynamite follow. So, fellas, make this awesome follow from Florida feel at home. -Hop "It's raining follows" Michael |
| |
When "next week"? She is a very nice dancer. |
| |
Sorry, Jeff. Firetwirl only said sometime this week. Look out for her though! -Hop "Waiting for Godot" Michael |
| |
Hahahahaha! Thanks for the sweet compliments boys! I'm HERE!!! It was great dancing with you both again last night. You all are definitely making me feel welcome. Perhaps I made the right decision to move here after all! ;) ...now if only I could find a job... :/ Anyway, I'm planning to make an appearance at Clayton's...er...uh... Cafe Savoy on Friday night. See ya there! ~Lisa Rae |
| |
Speaking of jobs...I'm great at secretarial (personal/administrative) and customer service type positions. If any of ya'll can keep your ears open that would be wonderful. Pretty much any location is fine, but I am a student (but could work mornings/afternoons/evenings, 2 of 3). The sooner I can switch jobs and get more hours, the better. |
| |
the thanksgiving tour? oh yes. it is. thanksgivings at my parents house this year, and im cooking! so, when i get out of the kitchen, will i be able to see any of you out dancing? or will everyone be off napping off your turkey? what if i bribe you into dancing by bringing a bay area lead with me? will that work? huh? |
| |
sorry meg...i don't think there is any dancing over thanksgiving. the firehouse is closed and i'm pretty sure cafe savoy is, too. and, i'll be up in LA at the us open. good luck, though. |
| |
Actually, there's tons of dancing to be done at the San Diego Dixieland Jazz Festival. A bunch of us will be there on Wednesday and Saturday. Bring your student ID... it's like a 50% discount. |
| |
Yeah, Meghann! Go to the Dixieland Jazz Festival. Tons of opportunities to Balboa! Sadly, I will not be able to be there =( -Hop "Turkey in the Straw" Michael |
| |
You haven't been anywhere Michael (or so it seems). Did you get lost in the South? BTW I'm currently enjoying the beautiful rain of Northern California - loving the Sacramento Valley. |
| |
There's much afoot here and there. -Hop "Strider" Michael |
