So...who got the sign? |
| |
The one on the outside of the building is still hanging there. Above the xxxx opthamology clinic sign, or whatever it is. I wonder if they kept the stage. |
| |
But the dance tonight (the best part of the whole darn place) sign is gone... sniff, sniff... |
| |
The new owners kept the stage and it is now an alter. They kept the wood floor and cut big square holes in it for rerouting utilities. They did not damage the beautiful wood arched ceiling. But installed a drop panel ceiling to make offices over the dance floor and they completely tore out the 2 front boys & girls reception rooms and poly-tiled over that floor. Visiting it made me sad. It sold for $465K (damn good price), and a few dance groups entertained buting it but never made a bid. I retreived a few of the antique light fixtures that they were throwing out with demolition. Melba, The "Dance Tonight" Neon sign was sold to one of these ~mystery~ dance groups. That was the trophie I was after. It was gone before the new owners got their demolition mitts on it though thanks for that, I guess ![]() |

That's the saddest thing I've ever heard! |
