Hey Jeff, thanks for Lindy by the Bay. Cant wait for LbtB summer... |
| |
Okay, maybe I shouldn't have used the word "inconsiderate", so sorry if I hurt your feelings, Jeff. I just wanted to make a point...again, sorry for the negativity. Can I redeem my "Free to be Bitchy Pass" for this month on this one? |
| |
Tertia, you're so hot you'd have to stab a vital organ to piss me off. You're one fiesty bad ass bitch, which ain't a bad thing, ya know. I love a second opinion, even if it's coming from one of your third or fourth personalities. ![]() |
| |
Yeah Jeff.. thanks for hosting LBTB ... I will be gone for two weeks and was so happy that I got one in before I left. Next one I can go to is July 2nd.. Not a very big crowd yesterday but lots of leads so I got a lot of dancing in. Thanks again - see ya Tuesday... And remember -- ![]() |
| |
I LOVED yesterday. Perfect cool overcast weather. And a nice crowd for a non-exchange LBtB. Heads up Lynnda, we usually only have around 50-60 dancers on the average for a daytime LBtB. It picks up to around 100 when we go to the evening format, which starts NEXT WEEK btw!! I think I danced every dance again. Rob did such a fantastic job DJing. He has great taste in music and a wonderful collection of tunes. He is indeed one of SD's "Exalted Master Spinners of Little Plastic Discs". Though he was using a laptop instead of CD's, the title still stands. Lots of leads. Cool. But how bout' dem follows! "Dolly", Dana, Gabe's Maggie, KC, Leslie, Lisa Bloom, Laurel, of course Lynnda the Banner Girl, (btw, you're getting really good really fast there Lynnda), Aletha...Oh! Shawn and Aletha were there with their new 10month old, Merrick. So cute. Danny and Susan brought Oliver again. New "Swing Kids"! Ron and Lisa brought their daughter too. Maybe I should start doing beginning lessons again before LBtB. We did wind it down right at 5pm, which is when some people just started arriving...typical! Actually dancers are used to me going about an hour or two beyond the advertised quittin' time, but not yesterday. I did make it home in time after packing up to make Joel and Allison's Bal class at 7pm. Great class. I stayed until Hep Spot closed. Sue Palmer was fabulous, as usual, and there was a really good crowd there last night. There were some people there who had been to LBtB as well, so hopefully pushing the evening venue at LBtB got some extra people to get out there and check it out. Thanks to all who attended, especially to Rob Duncun for DJing and doing such a fabulous job. |
| |
Speaking of Dolly... Great job on leading, girl.. you can practice with me anytime :-) |
| |
Let me grab my camera and upload a few pics. Time to piss a few people off. |
| |
LOL Jeff. I heard there was another special guest Hanna there also... D'oh! |
| |
Oh!! And the homemade banana bread was fabulous!! Thanks, Sarah. Okay...where's my camera. Don't worry, I'm wasn't the one taking all the pics yesterday. I only have a couple. |
| |
Here's my very limited pics from June 11th. I'm sure they'll be lots more coming from others with cameras much nicer than mine, especially from Toni, the wife of "Big Mickey" of Jump Jones. Can't wait to see her photos. Sal and Kendra enjoying Rob Duncan's DJing. Many a lady's heart skipped a beat at the sight of Aaron, Shawn's brother, who made an appearance. Can't see the new "Swing kids" in the strollers, but trust me, they're adorable!! Susan and Danny brought little Oliver, and Shawn and Aletha featured 10 week old Merrick for the 1st time at LBtB. Lee and Magdalena Mascari, aka "Maggie". Oooo, look, that's Gabe and Lynnda too. And I'm sure Carl is dancing with someone. Dang...can't tell who! ...with Mark and Katherine in the background. Yes, Lee's hair was blue for the occasion. He's calling security to request backup to protect the last piece of Sarah's banana bread. As usual, Gabriel "Gabe" Cashman is surrounded by his "Angels". ...Jordan's thinking, "Gabe gets as much attention from the ladies as I do." Heather "Dolly" Eves, one of the many cool people who's recently moved TO San Diego, can be seen regularly at Henry's on Tuesday nights. Leads, she's a fabulous follow. Give her time to style and improvise and you'll be blown away. ...Dolly takin' a pic. Hey, maybe she has a few pics we can post here too. Dana and Toni chillin'. And so is that guy sittin' on my amp! Who dat? Dana's tat is all dat! ![]() |
| |
The guy sitting on the amp is Jason, a recently-returned-to-the-swing-scene and quickly up and coming bal lead. :-) |
| |
A new cool lead. Nice. Thanks, Kendra. |
| |
9 out of 10 Moms choose LBTB over any other SD swing event. Thanks Jeff! |
| |
Jason is cool.. Good friend.. good lead.. dance with him if you can, follows :-) Thanks for the pics, Jeff.. It was a fun day. lynnda |
| |
Yay Merrick and Oliver! This town needs more leads! Just gotta give them a few years to learn how... |
| |
Hey, Kendra, thanks for my dances too! Forgot to mention you, didn't I? We had some great dances at Hep Spot too. You rock. |
| |
"Heather "Dolly" Eves, one of the many cool people who's recently moved TO San Diego, can be seen regularly at Henry's on Tuesday nights. Leads, she's a fabulous follow. Give her time to style and improvise and you'll be blown away." How can we, Jeff? You hog her on the dance floor all the time. :^) |
| |
Lol!! It does appear that way. |
| |
Sal.. I will make Jeff dance with me tomorrow night and you can lure Dolly onto the floor while I have him distracted.. :-) |
| |
Hey, we shared each other alot last Tuesday. Ask Sherri!! |
| |
Be that as it may... I am still making you dance with me! Tues and Thurs are it for me before I leave for two weeks of vacation.. You'll miss me.. admit it! LOL |
| |
Hello All~ Here's my pix... you know the drill. http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=epdj59n.6aups40z&x=1&y=999qq8 P.S. Thanks Miss Lynnda for putting up with my rusty leading! See you all tomorrow night! |
| |
I didn't get to dance with Dolly! Jeff, you follow hog! ;-) |
| |
There's always tonight! :-) |
| |
"Hey, we shared each other a lot last Tuesday" Huh????? :~) Thanks for the tactical blocking, Lynnda. |
| |
Things that sound naughty but aren't? Or mebbe they are? Or not? I'm confused. Anytime man.. I'm here for ya! As long as I get a dance with ya too! |
| |
Of course, Lynnda. Just as long as we do the claw hand move. |
| |
Don't get me started on the Velocaraptor hand thang.. Once I do it it seems to stick with me until I am done for the night.. :-) |
| |
So this weekend is evening Lindy by the bay? |
| |
Yes. The 1st "Late Nite" LBtB is THIS Saturday from 7-10pm. The entire summer schedule is also on the Swingorama "Calendar". Ron Bloom will be our featured DJ. |
| |
The Sea World Fireworks will be part of the action. I need to bring lamps like I did last summer. Somebody please remind me! And/or bring a cool lamp of your own I can plug in and set on the amps and tables. Thanks! |
| |
I'm bummed I will miss this and the next Soul Swingers party.. but you are going to be having a LBTB right when I get back from vacation.. so I will get my fix then .. Thanks Jeff! |
| |
Like "9 out of 10 moms", I'm glad you like LBtB, Lynnda. They'll be lots of opportunities this summer to get your "Bay on", so see ya when ya get back. Have a great vacation, btw! |
| |
Remember Magda? We've kept in touch since she moved to DC, and I just got an email this a.m. from her that she's thinking about coming to SD for Labor Day! Wouldn't that be so cool!? And she belly dances now. This pic is from a performance she did with a few friends. Seems like quite a few Lindy Hop follows also love to belly dance. She's so cool and an amazing dancer. Hope she makes it out. |
| |
She has excellent taste in footwear. (The beige Keds) |
| |
Lindy by the Bay TONIGHT!!! |
| |
Let the posting begin!!!! Was tonight unbelieveable or WHAT?!!! Wow...We started dancing at 7. The moon was in the sky to the southwest and the sun was setting to the northwest. Okay. Rephrase. When's the last time you were lindy hopping to great jazz along the water and saw the moon and the sunset at the same time? It is so amazing to dance outdoors and be air conditioned au natural. And the dancers that showed up tonight!!! |
| |
Hey Thanks again Jeff and Ron. I had a great night! it was fun to see everyone from MY good ole days, and meet some new people as well, (most everyone is new to me)! I hope to make LBTB a habit this summer! Ron, thanks for playing "Rip VanWinkle." I love that song and can't believe you remembered that! I feel the love baby! I'm sending the LBTB schedule to everyone I know! Oh, and just to chime in on the previous arguement. Jeff has been doing LBTB long before Joel and Alison moved here, so I agree with whoever said anyone that schedules an event is competing with JEFF, not the other way around. (Not that I can claim to be part of the scene anymore, but I LOVE LBTB)! |
| |
Yes, thanks Jeff for LBTB. Thanks Ron for DJing. A wonderful event as always Jeff and a wonderful set as always Ron!!! |
| |
Last night was just about perfect. Thanks guys! LBtB has got to be the BEST lindy outdoor venue on the planet. |
| |
And your stories and all the others at TGIF were funny too. LOL... |
| |
That was a superlative night at Lindy by the Bay! Big crowd, awesome weather, and very good djing, if I do say so myself! |
| |
I second that!!!! |
| |
There are some conversations that just flow from one great story to the next, Sal. What a great night! Believe me, I needed to laugh! If TGIF after LBtB is not already a tradition, it should become one. |

Hey Ron, I'm excited to see you at LBTB and witness your stellar djing once again! I'm definitely coming and bringing my mom too. |
| |
GABE'S BIRTHDAY IS TODAY!!! We'll give him a B-day dance for sure tonight!! |
| |
Happy Birthday Gabe! |
| |
Last night was one of my favorite LbtB's ever! Such perfect weather and so many amazing dancers. There were so many people there it felt like an exchange. I've got some pix I'll post soon, and I saw Mark Shtino takin' a bunch too, so they sould be up in a day or two, and hopefully will convey a fraction of the fun and energy. What was up with the fireworks not going off til 11pm? As a result we ended up going til midnight! It was truly an amazing 5 hours of dancing. Thanks Ron for hangin' in there the whole time and playin' so many different types of music. One of the follows I danced with said, "I can't believe Ron is playing this?" It was a compliment that reflected his expanding diversity. So it was that kind of night. Something for everyone. So good to see Kim and her husband, Sam, make it out. Wish I would have gotten a picture of them together. Hopefully Mark did. Again, Ron, thanks. Great job. And Lee, thank you for showing up at 6pm to help me set up. Very cool, bro. And to Nelson and Jason as well, helping with the tear down and clean up til 1:30!! Wow, thanks so much. Good times indeed. Oh, and thank you Sarah for baking Gabe a birthday cake, and to Matt and Christina for bringing another one! Gotta get these pix up. |
