David Patrone plays for free every Tuesday at Martini Ranch, Encinitas between 6:30 & 9:30 p.m. Cement dance floor - just pick up your feet! Its empty! Nice bar good food... |
| |
Yay! Mojitos at the Martini Ranch (Encinitas), AND dancing to live music. Who else will be there? PS The band now starts at 8:00pm |
| |
I'll be needing a stiff drink... anyone wanna drive me there and back? (I'm coming from College Blvd & 78) |
| |
Is anyone else interested in checking out Candye Kane at Fat Cats in Encinitas? She was so awesome at Niemans a few weeks back. She goes on 7 - 10. Meet there and then head over to Martini Ranch? I know Terisa is in town from Seattle. Any other earlie arriving exchange guests? Aletha, how late does Patrone go? |
| |
If Terisa comes (is that how you spell her name?) I'll show up to show some SD hospitality... but I'm gonna head over to Martini Ranch by 9... I'm not Aletha (duh) but Patrone plays till 11pm. And did I mention the long island's? |
| |
Perfect! I will be leaving from the vicinity of Hillcrest btwn 6:30 - 7:00. I don't know where College Blvd. and 78 is, Amy. Is that on the way? Anyone else wanna carpool? |
| |
Fat Cats is at 1476 Encinitas Blvd, 2-3 miles E. of I-5, past El Camino Real. (760) 943 7768 Candye Kane goes on at 7. |
| |
Its way out of the way.... I'll just bug one of my friends.... or not have anything too hard |
| |
Does Fat Cats have a dance floor? |
| |
yes. i'm on my way right now. see y'all up there! CANDYE KANE! If anyone wants a report, you can call me on my cellphone, (314) 495-7622 |
| |
There must be a crooner virus on the loose. Both Candye Kane and David Patrone were out sick last night. I hope you're on the mend Dave, we missed you!! |
| |
He was out with Jim Beam last night! He said so in another post. Get well, soon, bro. |
| |
Yes, please get better David and Candye! But, we couldn't have done much better with the substitutes. Martini Ranch lined up Cool Blue. Substituting for Candye Kane was Ben Hernandez out of LA. I liked his bluesey style ... and Candye's band was tight. (They called themselves "Hot Rod Lincoln" I think.) Also, the floor at Fat Katz is great! And Quint got Valena to come out! |
| |
Last night was fun! I was tatally surprised and delighted with everyone that drove up to No. County last night! Thanks for the dances.. (even Rachel was leading some last night) Both bands were sounding great and it was cool to be able to hit both. The floor was unexpectantly smooth at Fat Katz, and their barmaid was wonderful in supplying water! yeah! At Martini Ranch we picked up a navy dancer and gave him the 411 on the exchange...as well as a few other swing dancers. (Also at Fat Katz a few people were enjoying the show we were putting on - not to mention the band was delighted to see dancers) |
| |
Cool Blue was there!? Garrr! Darnit, I haven't seen them in ages... |
| |
You all are making me wish my birthday was already here. I can't go to any of these places till August. Rats! Cari |
| |
You think you have it tough... I have to wait TWO years... not 3 measally months! |
| |
Actually, Cari, there is no age limit at Fat Katz before 10:00 (music on Tues. goes 7-10) |
| |
awesome! |
| |
Quint and I (and Shawn and Aletha?) will be at Martini Ranch in Encinitas tonight. I believe David Patrone starts playing around 8pm and goes until 11. Does anyone else feel like joining us? |
| |
You guys better find some follows! |
| |
I think Valena and Mary are also coming so don't worry. |
| |
Ahh man! I'll be working. |
| |
I love Tuesdays. |
| |
Who's going to meet me at the MR tonight? I promise to stay for more than a half hour this time! |
| |
Hmmm, I might go! |
| |
I should get there sometime between 8 and 8:30. |
| |
I might only go from 8 to 9:15 or so. |
| |
hey are you guys going tonight? |
| |
Sorry, my company was doing an internal audit, meaning late nights at the office all week. No MR or Patrone for me....ugh. Three-day weekend...here I come! |
| |
It FEELS like Swing sometimes... Possible BOP... Perhaps you've been eviscerated by the TORCH song and you're still out beatin' the slippery bricks. Somehow you fall into the LOUNGE and steep your TWO-TONES in Jazz. BLUE notes guide your MIDNIGHT rendezvous, or perhaps they'll guide one to you. Meanwhile, you pull on a Lucky, STRAIGHT, tipped glow compliments of your hand-me-down Zippo (initials CIRCA Normandy Beach) You raise your Maker’s and water. Pausing as twinkling rocks dance in your ear to strike an INTRINSIC chord, your soul strings strum. Maybe it's a Martini, Sinatra wouldn't mind, "anything that gets you through the night," He said. Six nights later you're wondering while you're WANDERING and suddenly your suppressed anxiety rakes across taut nerves: vibing, red/raw/swollen like the dusty, bloodshot, hung over waking glance at the single searing beam through a miniscule crack in Venetian ineffectiveness. "WHERE IS S/HE RIGHT NOW?" it wails. In another drink; somehow, you leave it alone long enough to listen... you fall back to the blank, melancholy reverie while a ray of UNREQUITED love waits for the Earth's spin to hit you from another sliver in the blind. Lamenting silently, you barely wince when the cherry reaches your fingers... I haven't been promoting Martini Ranch, Encinitas on Tuesday Nights lately; and, I have some new players up there since my old piana playa, KACEY, went back to Seattle. Right now I have this Cat Tommy Gannon tickling the Ivories but soon it may be MIKAN Z. going nuts Like OSCAR P. We've been struggling to keep a decent swing crowd there and I want to RE-INVITE all of you well-swung bastards up for a steady Tuesday sampling of Jazz for Swingers, Drinkers, Lovers and Losers. There's plenty of room on the dance floor. Not only that; but the chow is good and the Drinks are LARGE, if you're into that sort of thing... God knows I HATE that... They have totally revamped the seating in the place. They've lined it with soopa-comftable booths and we some couches to sink into while you clock the dance floor. This week we won't have to wait until the game is over to start and you can even pre-test your All-Hallows get-up in the company of strangers... 3500 ghosts can't be all wrong. And when the band takes 15-20, I like y'all to play your own CDs to cover the bases that I don't lick... how can ya go wrong? Answer: You can't Come on over to Martini Ranch, Encinitas. It's the Downtown Vibe without the Dribe. (for those of you in No. Co.) For the rest of you... Drop in anyway... It's a great excuse to carpool. Hell, I wish one of you guys would drive me home allatime cause then I could get sloshed like I used to... Fill up the car and get to the bar, BABY!
