Clayton's was great! Chris and Jacob DJ'ed and did a good job. We did the "Study Hall" thing beforehand. Chris and Shauna did the lesson at 9pm. A bunch of people who'd gone to an earlier party got there late, so there was a good crowd until the end. It was a SDLHS night, and I think it went well. |

Rad. See....that's all I wanted. |

Hey, Friday night dancing was awesome! First a welcome supper club performance by Cool Blue at the Juke Joint. Then a gathering of great dancers at Clayton's! Welcome, Lisa Rae! And Clint from Chicago! Other note: Anyone leave a black "Sony" T-shirt at Clayton's? Steve K? E-mail me. -Hop "I {heart} San Diego dancing" Michael |

After "Study Hall" with Mel, my daughter, Jenna, and I headed over to Juke Joint to listen to Cool Blue. Can you believe how fast Jenna loves to dance? That girl can triple step SOOOO FAST!!! We ordered some food to go and walked back to Claytons. It was a great evening. This Friday, I'll be giving the beginning lesson at 9pm, after the "Study Hall" with Margie and Jim. Not sure who's DJing yet. |
| |
Well, Jeff, Tony Quach from LA and Aletha will be sharing the DJ duties this Friday. I told Tony that I would do my best to get the ladies to come out this Friday to dance with him. So, ladies, please come out... Also, fellas, you, too, might also be in for a special treat. Rumor has it that (short brown hair) Debbie might be coming down, too. Debbie is one of my favorite dancers anywhere, she is so fun and always has a great big smile on her face. And she, along with our very own Kate, has that enviable ability to switch swing styles at the snap of a finger. Yes, it's always more fun when there are visiting dancers. See ya later! |
| |
I just talked to Tony, and he'll be doing all you leads a favor by bringing LA's Ciera and Taylor along for the ride, as well as Lindy Groove's own Lance. Yay! |
| |
Ciara, Ciera, Sierra? Quien es? Is she the follow from Orange County with the light brown hair? If so, Ciara Battson is AWESOME! I'm sorry I can't make it Friday night, so fellow leads, make her feel right at home because she's one of the best dancers of OC! -Hop "Que sera sera" Michael |
| |
She's way fun. |
| |
Btw, since Jim and Margie are doing "Study Hall" at 8pm, I've asked them to teach the beginning class at 9pm, since they're already there. Duh!!! Wow, should be a great night! |
| |
I'll be there! Must have my swing fix! Unfortunately, I didn't get to dance much on Tuesday night. My own fault. I am WAY too shy, so I fall into the wallflower gig all too easily I'm afraid. Anyway, I'll be looking to make up for it tomorrow night. See you all there! ~Lisa Rae |
| |
This... coming from the former shot girl who had no problem sitting down at a table full of guys and challenging them to do shots with her.... {8^P> |
| |
Whoa!!! Did you ever pull THAT one out of ancient history!!! :P It's different when you've been empowered with a tray full of yummy looking shots AND you're on your own turf (where you already know lotsa peeps and have developed somewhat of a comfort level) AND it's obvious to everyone that you are just doing your job by approaching them, silly! Plus the fact that I was drinking quite a few of those shots with my customers raised the old liquid courage factor! ;) ~Lisa Rae |
| |
no need to be shy in SD. |
| |
All the more reason to drink before going dancing.... |
| |
AMEN, brotha! |
| |
Lisa Rae, you, shy?!? LOL! Show these leads what they're missing! I'd be at Clayton's tonight myself, but I'll be in Phoenix attending the Exchange. -HopM |
| |
*shaking head* Why is it that no one ever believes me when I say that? Sadly, it's SO true. And the fact that most people assume it's snobbery rather than shyness just makes it worse. That's why I always USED to drink before dancing. Unfortunately, it tends to have a somewhat negative effect on my balance. Hmmm... I WONDER why that is??? ;) Anyway, I'm sure I'll warm up to all of you soon enough. But in the meantime, if you ever see me hiding in a corner, please come and pull me out of it? Thanks! And Michael, have LOADS of fun in Phoenix, baby! ~Lisa Rae |
| |
It was a pleasure meeting you Lisa Rae (FINALLY). Hope you can stick around San Diego for a while! |
| |
Yes! Was truly a pleasure, Shawn! I hope so too! *fingers and toes crossed* ~Lisa Rae |
| |
Lisa Rae - I too enjoyed my dance with you. Hope you get a chance to come back in the near future |
| |
Wait! Which one were you? I'm slowly trying to learn all your names. But I don't remember dancing with anyone named Joe last night... No worries! I HOPE to remain in town for a good long time. Just moved here when I was laid off my job in FL. I'm thinking that it will be just as difficult (if not MORE so) to find a new job there as it is here. So I'm gambling on San Diego. I'm not convinced that moving back to FL would do me any good even if I DON'T find a job here right away. But my fingers are crossed that I'll find something soon to solidify my residency, ya know? Regardless, I'm sure we'll get some more dancing in soon! ~Lisa Rae |
| |
Here's Joe, dancing with Hazel ![]() |
| |
Ah! OK. Thanks Jeff! Now I can put a name to the face. I'm pretty sure I didn't dance with you last night, Joe. But I think we did have a dance (or at least a portion of one) LAST Friday night at Clayton's. Good stuff! ~Lisa Rae |
| |
Arrr! I still haven't danced with you, Lisa Rae, despite the fact that I announced your welcome dance last week (that was you, right?) This Friday I was super wasted at Clayton's. I'll make an effort to find you next time! |
| |
Hahahaha! Yup! That was me! No worries! I'll look forward to it! ~Lisa Rae |
