Someone please correct me because I hope this is not true. A friend of mine just got back from SF and said that the 920 Special is closing in a month or so because the building was sold to some sort of formal music company who wants to use it for symphony type stuff, and not let it out for night dancing. Does anyone know about this? |

The International Center, where the 9:20 is held, was sold a year or two ago to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, which will eventually use the room where we dance as a recital hall (which will make it non-dancable-in). According to Paul, this will happen sometime after April, at which time the 9:20 will move to another venue. One is currently being negociated. So, not to worry, it will take more than this to stop the 9:20. This being said, there's nothing wrong with you nice San Diegans using this as an excuse to come up to San Francisco to dance one last time (or two, or three) at the 9:20 in its original location :-). |

Charles. Move to San Diego. We like you. |

I second that. |

for those of you who know the venue, 9:20 is not dying, merely being moved to the Russian Room. In two weeks time, as a matter of fact. Tonight is the second to last time that 920 will be seen in the beautiful location on Oak St. But I'm told this Russian Room (not entirely sure where it is in SF) is a gorgeous venue, so get up here and dance! |

Yeah, I will be there the last night.... lucky me.. |

last thursday at 920 was soooo much fun. best time ive had at 920 in a long time. im definitly looking forward to next week. i actually stopped going to 920 for a while (about two months) cause i decided that i hated it. i know many san diegans that would hate it too. the music tends to be very monotonous. the songs are all very good on their own, but sharon tends to play alot of the same kinds of songs, with very similar tempos... blek. just my opinion. and NO! you may NOT have charles. he stays put. we like him up here too. (but charles, if you do go anwhere, you know i have dibs on your apartment.) heeheeehee. |

About the new location of 9:20... I was there last Thursday, which I guess was the second week they had it at the new location. I've never been to the old location, so I can't compare the two, but the new location seems great to me. Nice big dance floor. Lovely ballroom. Lots of excellent dancers. Most of the music I'd heard before, though it got funkier towards the end. |
