Maya's question above, (unlike Ian's question...hee, hee), got me thinking. I spoke with the manager of Cavatappi Restaurant that's adjacent our Lindy by the Bay site, and asked about having a "Swing Night" at the restaurant once or twice a month, after LbtB, from about 7pm to 10pm (when the fireworks go off). I told him it wouldn't cost him anything because we'd provide the music/dj, and it would attract hotel visitors and passers by to "lounge" (i.e. "consume mass quantities" in Beldar voice from "Coneheads"). I reminded him that lots of swing dancers have good jobs in the computer field, (oh, it's less than 5? Oh well...), who would give the restaurant and bar some business as well. So, in the future, "a rainy day at Lindy by the Bay may just turn out to be 'Okay!!' " (Has a nice rhythm to it, don't ya think?). |

I had a great time at Lindy by the Bay today! I also had a fun time hanging out with Michael, Charlie, Vikki (sp?), Chris, and Shanna (sorry you couldn't come with us Penny!) afterwards. Since I'm posting this, I'll also post the url for my animation for Chris and Michael (and I guess for anyone else who wants to check it out): http://www.nube9.com/bofw.htm Hope you enjoy it! |

Dam Steve that's an awesome animation. You made that? What software did you use? How long did it take? |
| |
"Impressive...Most impressive!! But you are not a Jedi yet", said Darth Vader to Steven upon seeing his spectacular animation. You see, Darth wanted to see some "real time" Lindy by the Bay footage. (I believe Yoda (with the Pony-tail) is working on it). |

Thanks to all who helped at LbtB yesterday! To Maya, who always shows up early to help...Joe, who impersonated the Easter Bunny with the basket full of chocolate and furry ears to give to the kiddies (mostly mine)...to Ron and his amazing "LbtB" compilation which he gave to me yesterday so we can enjoy it even in his absence...to Chris and Mark, who gave Ron a break djing...to Jeremy and Michelle who brought brooms and helped sweep up with so many of you...and Rich (pony-tail) who videoed much of yesterday on a digital video camera...and, of course, to the Hilton for allowing us to us the area and providing water and cups. Thanks, also, to those of you who pitched in a little to help me pay for the electricity, (the only requirement of the Hilton for us to use their power). At one point there were about 35-40 "couples" dancing as well as some on the wall watching!!! Exceptionally good crowd, especially in lieu of the Sacramento workshop, attended by Meeshi, Melissa, Kermit, Isgard,Jim, Margie, and others. There WILL be LbtB next Saturday, April 21 from 3 - 6pm. See ya then! |

holy cow steve, let alone the awesome sketches, they kick *ss in action too! thanks for the loads of dances, i had a blast gettin' down to 1 hr. of non-stop lindy considering i wanted to make the most out of my time as a result of getting there late. btw, thanks to you, charlie & vicki for the invite, i wished i could've gone, but, eh-heh , my professional student budget made going home for dinner more compelling at the time. all right, i'll stop blabbing now & will save the rest for our shag & bal. rendezvous @ Michael's. late! |

Sorry about Giovanni's last night. The upper floor was closed for a party! Must call ahead next time. It all worked out in that most were going to the "short film" festival thingy that ValOrie (catyme) headed up. And both the pool tables were out of commission at Giovanni's. New carpeting was just installed and they hadn't been leveled yet. So, it was just Gene, Sherry, Joe and me, with my two children Jordan and Jenna. Since Valorie heads up 80% of extra curricular lindy events anyway we should ask her to be in charge of post-Lindy by the Bay plans! |
| |
P.S...my son, Jordan, lost his Pokemon game there yesterday. He thinks he put it in a backpack he thought was mine or his. So...if the Easter Bunny gave you a purple Pokemon game with the silver cartridge inside please give me a call....thanks. |

That was a lot of fun, dancing by the Bay, thanks for organizing it, Jeff. You rock. |

Who's up for seeing Bridget Jones Diary after LbtB this Sat? There's a showing at 7:50 and 9:55 at the Clairemont Pacific theatre depending on whether people want to take more or less time over food in between the 2. Nat |
| |
I'd totally be up for it Natalie! |
| |
I looked it up for all you lurkers =) http://entertainment.msn.com/bridget/ |

Sorry for posting a non-Lindy message here, but in answer to Rich's questions, I did my animation in 3D Studio Max, and total production time was probably about 6 months. One of my ambitions is to animate a Lindy Hop sequence that's totally stylized. Thanks to Rich, Jeff, and Penny for your compliments. |
| |
Thanks Rich. You've read the book, now see the film. Mr Darcy is palyed by Colin Firth, which is a nice touch. |
| |
I LOVED that movie. Very funny. |

Steve, I saw BoW. [gasp] That frickin' rawks! When's the feature coming out? Jeff, another great Lindy by the Bay! Excellent time was had by all. This is going to be a great summer treat!! -HopM |

So, with so many people (including Jeff) heading to Catalina this weekend, what's the status of LBTB this weekend? Cancelled? |
| |
Yes. "Lindy by the Bay" this Saturday, June 9th is canceled. |
| |
What's the Saturday plan for this week? Will LBTB be up and running? If so, during the afternoon or in the evening? |
| |
Saturdays plans for me... I will be in San Fran dancing the weekend away with someone very special to me... |
