With the demise of Cafe Savoy (and until we find a new Friday night venue), I think it's appropriate to diversify the music being played at the Firehouse (or at least when I'm DJing). When I DJed at LindyGroove last week, it went over well to play the whole gamut of swingable music from groovy to 30's jazz, and from boogie to bop and beyond. So tonight, Brian and I will be playing music from all possible genres, and Shawna will help with a few random tunes of her own, to make for an "interesting" night of music and dancing. Well, its my shift this week, and I won't be playing any funk or novelty songs in the name of diversity, but plenty of jazz and jump blues from all eras. I just don't think dancers want as many novelty songs as other local DJs have been playing recently, but that's just my opinion. |

Hey I'm going to the Firehouse this Thursday and bringing an extremely good looking lead so all you ladies get ready. He is a latin dancer and is learning lindy but he is quite good. His name is Pany...pronounced like funny with a p. Make sure to ask him for a dance. |

Hey, anyone up for Extraordinary Desserts before the Firehouse tomorrow (apologies to Meeshi's routine class, but we'll be thinking of you while we stuff our faces with cake). For those of you not familiar with ED it's the best cake and coffee shop in a 300 mile radius and is situated on 5th Ave on the same side and just a few blocks south of the Firehouse. No cliques, no attitude, just coffee and cake. Absolutely open invite. Say about 8.30? Post here if you're interested (cause I ain't gonna go and sit on my on without knowing that other bodies are going to turn up). OK so ED is on, with Valorie and hopefully Cari so far, with Cari having first dips on the cake and coffee. Hope to see more dancers there. AAAAAAAHHHH. I'm sorry I wasn't there Nat. I had tooooooo much homework last night, so much that I didn't get to go to sleep at all. I went to class and came home, and I fell asleep. I missed my meeting. YIKES! Well it's 11 something now that I have woken up and so I guess I will not be going to te Firehouse tonight.  I'm sad.
