Question. Where can I go dancing to bring in the New Year? I want to be doing something more exciting than eating a raw sardine and banging pots and pans with my uncle George when the clock strikes twelve this New Year's Eve.

Eating a raw sardine?

Out of curiosity, is that a general New Year's Eve tradition I'm unfamiliar with? or is that unique to your family?

I'm not sure. I've never actually done it myself, but have watched my Uncle George and his four sons do it every year, immediately after making a New Year's resolution. They are the only family I'm aware of that does this.

So what does everyone think about having another New Year's exchange here next year?

I love the idea of a New Year's Exchange in San Diego. It was
great last year, and so many were looking forward to it this year.
There was a feeling of "displacement" among many dancers, (many
outside of San Diego), whom I spoke with who just had no New Years
options they were excited about, hoping we were going to repeat our
New Years exchange this year as well. (I think some of that feeling was
the result of having heard for months that something was going to happen
this year and it just never did.)

Although I must say I ended up having a blast attending parties
at two different homes, and am so glad that things ended up going
down exactly as they did.

But still, I think San Diego is generally considered to be a great place
to come and hang out between December 26th and Jan 2. So any
time we decide to provide a New Years exchange I think it will be well
received, especially if it's well planned in advance.

Mel didn't organize a New Year's Exchange this year because I took her to Las Vegas for New Years...

My bad.

It would be a fun tradition, I would be happy to help out in any way to make it happen!
