The Grand Re-Opening of
THE CHAMPION BALLROOM

October 19th, 2002
6pm-Midnight
Featuring San Diego's Hottest Band
COOL BLUE

We're kicking things off with a
Competition from 6:00pm-8:30pm,
a Free Beginning Lesson w/ Chance and Mel from 8:30pm-9:00pm,
and a Dance from 9:00pm-Midnight

$15 event pass / $12 student admission w/ID
(includes admission to competition and dance)

Competition Details:
Guest Judges! Cash Prizes!
The Competitions:
Jack & Jill, Jill & Jill, Jack & Jack, and Strictly Lindy!
$5 entry fee: per person, per competition

$10 dance only / $8 student admission w/ ID
(9:00pm-Midnight)

I'm confused - for those of us that are unable to make the competition, will we be eligible for the lesson at 8:30 for our dance only dollars?

I'm confused too. If we want to see the competition but not participate in it, do we pay the higher price? or just the $10 dance only price?

Sorry to be confusing...

The $10 dance only entrance starts at 8:30.

To watch the competition and go to the dance is $15.

To compete, it will cost the $15 plus $5 per competition per person.

The prizes for the competitions:
1st place---$100 (per couple/per competition)
2nd place---$75 (per couple/per competition)
3rd place---$50 (per couple/per competition)
That's $900 CASH PRIZES!!!!

Registration for the competitions coming to www.lindydreams.com October 1st. There will be a limited number of spots available...

So essentially the only people watching the competition will be the competitors. I can't see many people going early just to watch the competition. i'm glad you aren't holding the comp later in the evening though. I hate competitions breaking up the evening and they always take too long, but i do feel sorry for the competitors dancing in a sparsely populated ballroom with their competitors as their main audience. I know I sound pessimistic, so I encourage everyone to prove me wrong that saturday.

People watch competitions all the time...They want to cheer on their friends or just see good dancing.

people watch competitions all the time because they're forced to when they're in the middle of the dance. if you have it first and charge more, why bother coming to that if you're not in it? I think nachoman explained his concern well.

I've been wanting to check it out for quite a while. I'm hoping that someone will venture in there with me. And a Champion Ballroom night seems like a good opportunity. Especially for those who might like a drink before a non-drinking venue. ;)

The partners will be randomly selected at the time you compete...At that point there will be no further rotations in that competition.

correction...we will NOT be at the firehouse or cafe savoy this week. we are going to san francisco this weekend for a competition, and our flight leaves thursday night at 7:50pm. (i don't know how that could have slipped my mind!)

I want to see all of you San Diegan's at least entering the Jack & Jill. It's a really fun competition!!!

All you do is social dance to a song chosen by a great DJ, like Tony Quach, and you have a chance to win some money!

PS - Don't miss LSD at the Champion Ballroom this Saturday.

Oh, yeah, and we need a few strong men to volunteer to help the beautiful Ruby (singer of Cool Blue) carry her equipment up the Champion stairs.
