Hello dancers -- It's time once again to celebrate my birthday, but, keep in mind, the party this Thurs. Nov. 15th is really for all of you! Thank you for supporting the Firehouse over the past 8 years through all its many musical permutations. With deep gratitude, I promise to throw you one helluva party!

First off, we're featuring two rockin' hour-long sets from local favorites, the Anna Troy Band. The first set is pure 40s/50s Jump/Swing (geared for swing dancing), and the second set is pure 60's Rock/Soul (geared for booty shakin'). The Anna Troy Band has been working hard over the past month to learn the vintage 40s and 50s tunes they'll be playing for the party. Here's a sampling of some of the songs to be performed:

In between the band sets, we've got an impromptu hulahoop-hiphop-acroyoga improv demo (you'll have to see it to believe it), plus a very cool live acoustic folk& jazz set from visiting recording artists, the Grass Gypsys from Boston, MA! I met the Grass Gypsys at a cool vegan potluck a few weeks back and their brand of soulful, hippie folk music will bust your heart wide open! And finally, to wrap up the evening, my friend and co-promoter of Kava Lounge, DJ Gage, will play some funky retro-lounge mixes to keep our hips shaking until 1a.

Cost: $10-12 donation. Please Note: This is a theme party, so please dress in any "60's-inspired" outfit -- you can be a hippie or a mod, a go-go girl or a draft dodger, style a beehive or a bouffant, or dress as any 60's icon (Andy Warhol, John F. Kennedy, Twiggy, etc.), anything 60's goes! I'm really looking forward to see what people come up with.
