I think Valorie's accident on the freeway was way more than a fender bender, btw. Her car spun around a few times and she was visibly still very shaken at Lbtb. Valorie, I can't believe you still came by just to drop off your homemade brownies! You are such a sweetheart!!
And thank you also to Sarah Marks who brought homemade blueberry bread/cake that was still warm from the oven. Lotta love last night.

Sorry I didn't come to LBtB, Sal. I would have come, but I was reading HPatHBP. It's awesome, and I'm almost done!

Ya know, as much as I'd love to go to Camp Hollywood, I'm pretty certain I won't be able to. If I did a Lbtb on July 30th would enough people still be here in SD to make it worth while? Who'd come? Roll call....

I'm not trying to sound pompous or anything, but I pretty much cannot stand to dance on the sandcrete. It's just one of my idiosyncracies. If you got a portable dance floor, Jeff, I would be there all the time, but for some reason my legs and ears and body just can't take the current floor. I wish they could, because it seems like everyone loves LBTB.

Yeah, Jeremy, we were talking about that in the Bay Terrace bar last night. Lbtb was going to be the dance for the Steven and Virginie workshop but they won't dance on concrete either. In addition, people from out of town who sign up for the workshop want a dance that goes later than 10 or 11, and at the time Mel was putting it together none of us knew we were going to be allowed by the Hilton mgmt to go til past midnight, which we've done for the past two times.
But the topic of our conversation was the concrete out there. We were trying to figure out why it doesn't bother knees, legs, etc. like most concret surfaces. For sure the sand helps with turns and gives much like a wood floor. But we were speculating that because that slab is floated over sand that it absorbs much more than concrete on harder surfaces. I mean, concrete is concrete so probably not. But it never bothers me, ever, and I personally love the sound of dancing over the light coating of sand.
But I don't think it's snobby or pompous. It's just a preference. You don't care for it. No big deal. Some great dancers just will not dance on concrete like Lbtb or the slab at Catalina, etc. I'm glad you mentioned why you don't come. We'd all love to see you there but it's good to know the reason why you're not.
But you're so right. Everyone REALLY does love LbtB, especially at night in the summer. It's just such a cool place to hang out and dance I'm still in disbelief we've got we've got such a great arrangement with the hotel management and staff, lifeguards, police, who all love seeing us dance out there. There must have been at LEAST 150 people last night. And when they're all dancing the sand does get loud. Luckily our fabulous sound system is way louder! |

Unfortunately, it's probably a problem for me because I have weak legs, ankles, and feet to begin with. Anyway, that's why I'm usually not there, because it doesn't really do me much good to come and not dance. I usually end up dancing anyway, and then pay for it the next day.

Huh? A kung fu master must have good legs.
Come run with me up Cowles and I'm sure we can get those legs in shape. _________________ Stay thirsty my friends!
