Welcome to our bio page! We love to swing dance, and we'd love to help you learn to swing dance. Here's our teaching philosophy:
Dancing is not about steps, figures and patterns. It's about shared self-expression. It's about communicating to your partner the joy you feel when you hear swing music. And it's about being present enough to allow your partner to express that same joy right back to you.
We do not seek to be full-time "professional" dance teachers. We wish to remain full-time "ama-teurs" in that our primary motivation to teach is to share our ever-growing love of swing dancing with you in the best way we know how.
We hope you will stop by one of our Thursday or Sunday swing classes soon.

About Meeshi:
Meeshi has studied, performed, and taught various movement disciplines since 1989 including West African dance, Afro-Brazilian dance, Modern Dance, Partner Yoga and Tai Chi. In 1996, he discovered social Lindy Hop dancing and has been focusing his energies on exploring this highly improvisatory dance form ever since.
Since 1998, Meeshi has taught swing classes at all of San Diego's major local universities (UCSD, SDSU, and USD) and has been the promoter/organizer of several of San Diego's most popular swing venues including the La Jolla Marriott (1998-1999), Cafe Savoy (1999-2002), the Aubergine (2003-2004) and the ever-popular Firehouse (1998-present).
He is currently co-host of the groundbreaking Sunday *Soul Swingers* Parties at the Kava Lounge where dancers explore the boundaries of partnered swing dancing and non-partnered freestyle movement to soul, jazz, R&B, acid jazz, funk and classic swing music.
Meeshi has studied extensively with some of the best Lindy dancers in the world, and continues to broaden his movement studies through learning Salsa, Argentine Tango, Tap and Afro-Cuban dance. He is eager to share some of his deep knowledge and love for dancing with you. Lindy Hop is one of the most fun, creative and innovative social dances on the planet, and with Meeshi's help (and lots of patience, persistence and PRACTICE), you'll slowly begin to absorb and master this beautiful African-American partner dance form.

These 2 without a doubt are your local "high energy" instructors.
When we are in town and get a chance to see Meeshi & Emily in action it is always an ENERGETIC experience of the JOY.
In my opinion, that's what it is all about and these two bring it consistently.
I wish we were in town more often to share in their weekly events.
Meeshi has always been the local promoting guru as you can see from his bio. Always building the local community.
Check them out if you can.

Thank you for your kind words, Joel. I, too, am happy you and Alison are around (when you're around) to share some of your vast knowledge of vintage swing and vernacular jazz with San Diego dancers. You really know your stuff.
BTW, I loved the way you taught Al and Leon's Shim Sham at SDS III. _________________
